Angarak Yoga 2026-2028: Mars With Rahu or Ketu, All Dates

Mars and a Node in One Sign (अंगारक योग)
Angarak yoga takes its name from Angaraka, a Sanskrit name for Mars. Astrologers who use the term define it as Mars and Rahu in the same sign of a birth chart, and some of them apply it to Mars with Ketu as well. This page keeps the two node versions apart, so you can see which one any date belongs to.
Every date below comes from the site’s 2026–2028 ingress table. Nothing on the page says what the combination does in a chart; it sets out when the sky held it and what the tables record about Mars in each sign.
Every Stretch From 2026 to 2028
The site’s pace table gives Mars about 8 weeks in a sign against about 18 months for a node, so Mars passes through a node’s sign in weeks, and the table holds five separate stretches: two with Rahu and three with Ketu. The status column is as of this page’s publication on 26 October 2026.
| Node | Sign | From | To | Days | Mars there | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rahu | Aquarius (कुम्भ) | 23 February 2026 | 2 April 2026 | 38 | no listed dignity | past |
| Ketu | Leo (सिंह) | 12 November 2026 | 5 December 2026 * | 23 | no listed dignity | coming |
| Ketu | Cancer (कर्क) | 10 March 2027 | 26 April 2027 | 47 | debilitated | coming |
| Rahu | Capricorn (मकर) | 27 December 2027 | 3 February 2028 | 38 | exalted | coming |
| Ketu | Gemini (मिथुन) | 12 July 2028 | 26 August 2028 | 45 | no listed dignity | coming |
The date marked * is the one soft edge in the table. On 5 December 2026 the nodes change sign, and the site computes the nodes on the mean node, a formula and not a measured position, so that day can be out by one; an almanac that follows the true node may put it further away. Every other date is a Mars sign change, and all of those stretches begin and end with Mars. The Cancer stretch is the odd one: Mars reaches Cancer on 10 March 2027 by moving backwards out of Leo, retrograde, and leaves again on 26 April 2027. Rahu’s Capricorn stretch runs over the turn of the year, from 27 December 2027 to 3 February 2028.
These are sign shares, not exact meetings. The site’s conjunction table has rows for the moment Mars reaches a node’s degree, but every such row is computed on the mean node and none is printed here. The Mars–Rahu and Mars–Ketu pair pages carry the same caveat.
How Much of Each Year
Measured on the clock, Mars shares a sign with Rahu for 10.5% of 2026 and 1.2% of 2027, and with Ketu for 6.3% and 13%. Mars can only be with one node at a time, so the figures add: 16.8% of 2026 and 14.2% of 2027 under the wider definition. The 2027 Rahu figure is small because that stretch only starts on 27 December 2027. These are fractions of hours in the sky. They do not count births, and they say nothing about how many people carry the combination.
Mars’s Standing in Each Sign
The site’s planet table gives Mars Aries and Scorpio as its own signs, Capricorn as its sign of exaltation and Cancer as its sign of debilitation, and the five stretches happen to include both of the last two. During the Capricorn stretch Mars is exalted; during the Cancer stretch it is debilitated. In Aquarius, Leo and Gemini it has no listed dignity, and it is never in one of its own signs while it shares a sign with a node. The lords of those signs stand differently in Mars’s friendship row: the Sun (Leo) and the Moon (Cancer) are listed as friends, Saturn (Aquarius and Capricorn) as neutral and Mercury (Gemini) as an enemy. From the nodes’ side, Rahu’s row lists Mars among its enemies and Ketu’s among its friends; Mars’s row names neither node.
The two Ketu stretches of 2026 and 2027 also have Jupiter in the sign for their whole length, so for those weeks three bodies share it: Leo from 12 November 2026, and Cancer from 10 March 2027, with Jupiter exalted and Mars debilitated in the same sign. The Jupiter side of that is set out on the Guru-Ketu yuti page.
On “Cancellation”
People ask whether Angarak yoga can be cancelled. The site’s data holds no cancellation rule for this combination, and this page does not supply one from elsewhere. What can be said is narrower. The yoga as defined is a sign test, so the first check on any claim that a chart has it is whether Mars and the node really are in one sign, by the node convention the chart uses; a birth near 5 December 2026 is where the mean and true node can disagree. Mars’s dignity in that sign is in the table above, and how a particular astrologer weighs it is that astrologer’s method, not a fact the tables hold.
Not the Same Test as Mangal Dosha
Both names concern Mars, but they test different things. The planet table defines Mangal dosha by Mars’s house from the lagna, the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th, and says nothing about a node. Angarak is about which body shares Mars’s sign and says nothing about the house. A chart can meet either test, both, or neither. The Mangal dosha checker runs the house test only; it will not tell you whether Mars sits with Rahu or Ketu.
The Associations, From the Planet Table
The planet table names Mars as karaka of land and property, engineering and the armed forces, among other things. Rahu’s list includes aviation and speculation, and Ketu’s includes occult knowledge and flags and banners. Astrologers who read the combination start from those lists. This page goes no further, and it gives no reading for a person who has the yoga.
Mars’s full sequence of sign changes for the coming year is on Mars transit 2027, and the nodes’ on Rahu Ketu transit 2026–2028. Other node combinations have their own pages: Kaal Sarp dosh, Guru Chandal yoga and Shrapit dosh. The full list, with how often the sky allows each, is the kundli yoga list. Where Mars, Rahu and Ketu Sit in Your Chart
The Janam Kundli report calculates the sign and house of Mars, both nodes and every other graha from your birth details, with your dasha periods and their dates. That is enough to run both the Angarak test and the Mangal dosha test yourself. The report does not grade either one or forecast from it.
