Dwipushkar and Tripushkar Yoga 2026-2027: Dates, Rule
Published 2026-10-27 | Live Pandit Ji
Dwipushkar and Tripushkar need three things at once: a weekday, a tithi and a nakshatra, each from a short list. That makes them much rarer than the weekday-and-nakshatra pairings. From 1 November 2026 to 30 December 2027 there are eleven Dwipushkar windows and twenty Tripushkar windows, and only nine of the 31 are already running at sunrise. The rest of 2026 has one of each: Dwipushkar on Saturday 5 December, from sunrise to 11:48, and Tripushkar on Tuesday 29 December, from 15:42 until the next sunrise.
The Rule, Limb by Limb
Weekday: Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday, the days of the Sun, Mars and Saturn. Tithi: Dwitiya, Saptami and Dwadashi of either paksha, the three tithis of the group called Bhadra (“welfare”) when the fifteen are sorted into fives; the five tithi groups are set out separately. This Bhadra is a tithi group and has nothing to do with Bhadra kaal, which is the Vishti karana. Nakshatra: for Dwipushkar, Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta; for Tripushkar, Krittika, Punarvasu, Uttara Phalguni, Vishakha, Uttara Ashadha and Purva Bhadrapada. With all three present the combination is the yoga; with any one missing it is not.
Why These Nine Nakshatras
The nakshatra lists are not arbitrary, and they can be rebuilt from the zodiac itself. Twenty-seven nakshatras of 13°20′ share twelve signs of 30°, so most nakshatras sit wholly inside one sign, and nine cross a sign boundary. Of those, Mrigashira, Chitra and Dhanishta are cut down the middle, two padas on each side; those are the Dwipushkar three, the “two-footed” (dwipada) nakshatras. The other six are cut one pada to three: Krittika, Uttara Phalguni and Uttara Ashadha keep one pada in the earlier sign, and Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada keep three. Those are the Tripushkar six, the “three-footed” (tripada) ones. The site’s nakshatra table gives the spans, and the build re-derives both lists from it.
| Nakshatra | Span | Padas per sign | Yoga |
|---|---|---|---|

Three Clocks, Whichever Stops First
Each window opens when the last of the three limbs arrives and closes when the first of them leaves, so the last column matters. In eight rows it is the tithi that runs out, in fourteen the nakshatra, and in nine the weekday itself, at the next sunrise. That is also why the windows are so uneven: the longest, 17 h 15 min of Tripushkar on Saturday 28 August 2027, against five that last under an hour.
Four windows look like separate rows but are one stretch of sky. On 8 August 2027, 29 August 2027, 31 October 2027 and 5 December 2027, the tithi and nakshatra that began on the Saturday are still in place at the Sunday sunrise, and since both weekdays are on the list, the yoga carries straight on into the new vaar. A calendar read at sunrise sees only the Sunday half.
The tithi and nakshatra instants are from the JPL DE421 ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa, cut to the minute in IST; they are the same everywhere in India. The weekday edges are New Delhi’s sunrises from the site’s daily panchang, so only a row that the vaar closes, or that begins at sunrise, moves with your city.
What the Custom Says the Yoga Doubles
Muhurta custom holds that an act done in Dwipushkar happens twice and in Tripushkar three times. Almanac users therefore treat the yoga as a choice for things they would like repeated, a purchase of gold or a first deposit, and as a time to avoid things they would not, such as taking a loan or selling property. That reading cuts both ways and the custom states it that way; it is not a claim this page can test, and nothing in the table is a reason to buy, sell, borrow or hold. The fuller day-choosing rules for each occasion are on the muhurat pages.
