Aquarius Rashifal January 2027 (Kumbha Rashi): The Last Phase of Sade Sati, With Its End Date
Published 2026-08-20 | Live Pandit Ji
Kumbha Rashi has been carrying Sade Sati for years, and January 2027 is the beginning of the end of it. Saturn is in Pisces, the second house from Aquarius, which is the third and final phase — the cycle runs through the twelfth, first and second houses from the natal Moon, and the second is the last of the three.
The dates are computable and worth writing down. Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries on 3 June 2027, which puts it in your third house — one of the three houses from which a Saturn transit is read as favourable. It retrogrades back into Pisces on 20 October 2027, which returns the final phase for one last instalment. And it settles in Aries for good on 23 February 2028. That is when Sade Sati ends for Kumbha Rashi.
Your Own Ruler Is the Planet Running It
There is a feature of Kumbha Rashi that no other sign shares in quite the same way, apart from Capricorn. Saturn rules Aquarius. So the planet putting you through Sade Sati is your own ruler — not an outside pressure but your own governing principle, applied without concession. That changes how the transit is best read. A Sade Sati run by an unrelated planet feels like interference; one run by your own lord feels like an audit.
The second house is money already held, possessions, speech and the family you belong to. Saturn there constrains all four: savings are harder to build, expenditure feels obligatory rather than chosen, and speech gets shorter than intended. What it also does — and this is the part usually left out — is remove things that were not load-bearing. By the end of a second-house Saturn most people are holding less and know more precisely what they are holding.
Saturn turned direct in Pisces at 5:31 am on 11 December 2026, which matters: for most of 2026 it was re-covering ground it had already crossed, and from January it is moving forward towards the exit. The observances on our Shani remedies page apply, and Saturday fasting is the form most commonly kept — 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 January are the five Saturdays this month.
The Full Moon Falls in Your Ruler’s Nakshatra
At 5:47 pm on Friday 22 January the Full Moon forms at 8° of Cancer, which is your sixth house. The degree places it in Pushya nakshatra’s second pada: Pushya spans 3°20′ to 16°40′ of Cancer, and the second quarter runs from 6°40′ to 10°00′.
Pushya has two classical attributions and both are standard. Its ruling planet is Saturn — your own ruler, and the planet currently running your Sade Sati. Its presiding deity is Brihaspati, which is Jupiter — the planet that arrives in the same sign three days later, exalted. So this one lunation ties together the two slow planets that define your year: it falls in your ruler’s nakshatra, under Jupiter’s deity, three days before Jupiter gets there.
Jupiter Exalted in Your Sixth House
At 2:15 am on Monday 25 January, Jupiter enters Cancer, its sign of exaltation. From Aquarius, Cancer is the sixth house — and the sixth is one of the four upachaya houses, the houses of increase, alongside the third, tenth and eleventh.
The sixth house is enemies, competitors, debts, disputes, service and disease. That list looks unpromising until you notice it is also the house of overcoming all six. An exalted Jupiter there is one of the better transits for winning a case, clearing a debt, recovering from a long complaint, or outlasting a rival — and for anyone in a service occupation, for doing that work well. Given that Saturn is simultaneously squeezing your second house, a strong sixth is a useful thing to have: it is the house that makes debt tractable.
The window is short for a Jupiter transit. Jupiter is retrograde as it crosses into Cancer, so it reverses in rather than walking in: it turns direct on 13 April 2027 and leaves for Leo on 26 June 2027 — five months rather than the thirteen a Jupiter sign-transit normally runs. The previous Cancer visit ran 19 June 2014 to 14 July 2015; the next is in 2038. Ketu is already in Cancer, since 5 December 2026 and until June 2028, so the sixth house holds both.
Mercury Arrives on Your Own Rashi
Mercury crosses three signs this month and finishes on yours. It starts in Sagittarius, your eleventh house, moves to Capricorn — your twelfth — at 12:34 am on Sunday 10 January, and reaches Aquarius, sitting on your own rashi, at 3:30 am on Thursday 28 January.
Mercury on the first house sharpens articulation: you say what you mean more precisely and you are more likely to be understood. For a sign whose difficulty is often that its reasoning is correct but poorly transmitted, the last four days of January are worth using for the conversation that needs to be got right. It carries into February.
Note the middle stretch too. From the 10th to the 27th Mercury sits in your twelfth house with Rahu, which has been in Capricorn since 5 December 2026, and the Sun joins them from 9:05 pm on Thursday 14 January. A crowded twelfth house is a fortnight of expenditure, private effort and things that do not show. It is not harmful; it is unproductive-looking, which for Kumbha Rashi tends to be more irritating than harm.
Mars Turns Retrograde in Your Seventh House
Mars is in Leo, your seventh house, and turns retrograde at 6:24 pm on Sunday 10 January — an event that comes round about once in two years. A retrograde Mars in the seventh is the classical picture of a disagreement with a partner or a counterparty that will not resolve by being pressed: the same argument recurs, and each round is less productive than the last.
The useful adjustment is to postpone the confrontation rather than the conversation. Mars turns direct on 1 April 2027, and before that, on 10 March, it reverses out of Leo into Cancer — your sixth house, where Mars is debilitated, joining the exalted Jupiter and Ketu. That takes the pressure out of the seventh house from March, at the cost of a weak Mars in the house of disputes.
Key Dates for Kumbha Rashi in January 2027
- 1 January, 11:18 pm: your tenth house receives Venus, which gives up its own Libra and your ninth to get there.
- 8 January, 1:54 am: your eleventh house takes the New Moon — 23.1° of Sagittarius, Purva Ashadha pada 3 — which makes it the date to put something to a group or to start on income.
- 10 January — two events: your twelfth house gains Mercury at 12:34 am; your seventh loses Mars to a retrograde station at 6:24 pm.
- 14 January, 9:05 pm: the Makar Sankranti ingress fills your twelfth house — Sun, Mercury and Rahu in Capricorn together.
- 22 January, 5:47 pm: your sixth house takes the Full Moon, 8° of Cancer in Pushya pada 2 — a nakshatra ruled by your own ruler Saturn and presided over by Jupiter.
- 25 January, 2:15 am: that same sixth house receives an exalted Jupiter beside Ketu, and keeps it until 26 June 2027.
- 28 January, 3:30 am: Mercury reaches Kumbha itself and stays into February.
- 29 January, 6:37 pm: your eleventh house takes Venus, out of Scorpio and into Sagittarius.
Week by Week
1–7 January
Venus is dignified in your ninth house for the first twenty-three hours of the year, which makes the 1st a good day for anything to do with a teacher, a journey or a matter of belief. The Sun and Mercury are in your eleventh house all week, which is the better of the two money houses, and the New Moon is coming there on the 8th — so the week is for setting up an income question rather than settling one.
8–14 January
The New Moon of Friday the 8th in your eleventh house is the month’s best-placed date: ask for the raise, approach the contact, start the arrangement that is meant to produce recurring income. Then Sunday the 10th carries two events eighteen and a half hours apart — Mercury into your twelfth at half past midnight and Mars turning retrograde in your seventh that evening. From Thursday the 14th the Sun joins the twelfth house too.
15–22 January
The month’s flattest week, and it is worth knowing that in advance. The Sun, Mercury and Rahu are all in your twelfth house, which is expenditure, private effort and loss — nothing dramatic, but very little to show. Saturn is squeezing your second house at the same time. Expect the fortnight to feel like paying for things. The Full Moon of Friday the 22nd falls in your sixth house and typically brings a dispute, a debt or a health matter to a head.
23–31 January
The month turns. Jupiter enters exalted Cancer in your sixth house at 2:15 am on Monday the 25th, which is the best help available for exactly the things the previous week surfaced — the dispute, the debt, the complaint. Mercury arrives on your own rashi at 3:30 am on Thursday the 28th, which makes you more precise, and Venus reaches your eleventh house on Friday the 29th. The last week is where January becomes usable.
Career and Money for Kumbha Rashi
Money has a clear structure this month and it is worth reading it as a whole. Saturn constrains the second house — what you hold. Rahu, Mercury and then the Sun crowd the twelfth — what goes out. The eleventh house — what comes in — gets the New Moon on the 8th and Venus from the 29th. So: inflow is available at the start and end of the month, outflow dominates the middle, and savings are under pressure throughout.
The strategic item is the sixth house. An exalted Jupiter there from the 25th is the best instrument you will have for five years against a debt, a loan or a dispute that has been sitting unresolved. If Sade Sati has left you carrying an obligation, the window from 25 January to 26 June 2027 — and cleanest before a debilitated Mars joins that house on 10 March — is when to attack it. Career itself is quiet; Venus takes your tenth house from 2 January, which supports relationships at work more than position.
Relationships and Family
The seventh house is the month’s difficulty. A retrograde Mars there from the 10th makes a partnership disagreement circular, and the second-house Saturn adds a specific edge to it: speech gets shorter and blunter than you intend under a second-house Saturn, which is exactly the wrong ingredient. The combination is worth naming because it is avoidable — the argument is being made worse by two transits, not by the other person.
Mercury on your rashi from the 28th is the repair. It is the placement for saying the thing accurately, and the last four days of January are the best of the month for a conversation that has been going badly.
Health
The sixth house is the house of both illness and recovery, and this month it gets a Full Moon on the 22nd and an exalted Jupiter on the 25th. Read together, that is a good configuration for dealing with something long-standing: the lunation surfaces it and the Jupiter supports treating it. If a chronic complaint has been postponed through the years of Sade Sati, the five months from 25 January are the window.
The countervailing note is the twelfth-house crowd in the middle of the month, which classically shows up as disturbed sleep, and a second-house Saturn, which has an association with the teeth and the mouth. Both respond to routine rather than intervention.
Remedies for Kumbha Rashi in January 2027
Sade Sati’s final phase, an exalted Jupiter arriving in the house that clears debts, and a retrograde Mars in the seventh. In that order of importance.
- Saturday observance for Shani — 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 January: your own ruler is running Sade Sati’s last phase, which makes this the month’s central observance rather than an addition to it. Sesame oil and iron with black til, and the peepal lamp at dusk — your own ruler, so this is the month’s central observance. Our Shani remedies page and Saturday fasting cover the forms.
- Attack one debt or dispute between 25 January and 10 March: the practical use of an exalted Jupiter in the sixth house. A debilitated Mars joins that house on 10 March, the exaltation ends on 26 June, and the next one is in 2038.
- Guru worship on the four Thursdays — 7, 14, 21 and 28 January: Jupiter reaches exaltation on the 25th, so the 28th is the first Thursday under the new placement — and Jupiter is the presiding deity of the nakshatra the Full Moon falls in on the 22nd. Chana dal and turmeric, with a yellow cloth given where people are fed — the sixth house takes its remedies as service. The weak-Guru remedies page has the longer list.
- Postpone the confrontation, keep the conversation: the counter to a retrograde Mars in your seventh house from the 10th until 1 April. Wait for Mercury to reach your rashi on the 28th and use that instead.
- Set the twelfth-house budget before the 14th: Rahu, Mercury and the Sun are all in that house in the middle of the month. Decide the figure in advance rather than reviewing it afterwards.
- Deal with the chronic complaint in the next five months: a Full Moon and then an exalted Jupiter in your sixth house is the best support available for it, and Sade Sati is the reason it has probably been postponed.
- Wednesday observance for Budh — 6, 13, 20 and 27 January: Mercury arrives on your rashi on the 28th, so the 27th is the last Wednesday before it does. Green cloth, moong, and study; our Mercury page covers the dignities.
- Ketu observance, all month: Ketu is in your sixth house until June 2028 and Jupiter joins it on the 25th. Til, a grey cloth passed on, and food put out for a dog. The weak-Ketu remedies page has the rest.
In Summary
For Kumbha Rashi, January 2027 is the last full stretch of a long cycle. Saturn is in Pisces, your second house, which is Sade Sati’s third and final phase — and because Saturn also rules Aquarius, the planet running it is your own lord. It has been moving forward since turning direct at 5:31 am on 11 December 2026. It lifts on 3 June 2027 when Saturn reaches your favourable third house, returns for one instalment from 20 October 2027, and ends for good on 23 February 2028.
The month’s help is well aimed. Jupiter reaches exalted Cancer — your sixth house, an upachaya house — at 2:15 am on Monday 25 January, and the sixth is the house of debts, disputes, competitors and disease, which is to say the house of overcoming all four. That is the right instrument for whatever Sade Sati has left you carrying. It runs five months rather than the usual thirteen, to 26 June 2027, and the next such transit is in 2038.
Two more things to hold. The Full Moon of 5:47 pm on Friday 22 January falls at 8° of Cancer in Pushya pada 2, a nakshatra ruled by your own Saturn and presided over by Jupiter — the two planets that define your year, in one lunation. And Mercury reaches your own rashi at 3:30 am on Thursday 28 January, after a fortnight in your twelfth house with Rahu and the Sun, which makes the last four days of the month the ones to speak carefully in.
When your own Sade Sati actually ends depends on your natal Moon’s degree and on which of the nine Aquarius padas holds it — the whole cycle is measured from that Moon, not from your Sun sign, so a Moon in Dhanishtha exits on a different schedule from one in Purva Bhadrapada. The padas are where the fixed and the negotiable parts of Kumbha separate. Our Jupiter transit guide follows this exaltation sign by sign, and December’s reading records what the month inherited.
When exactly does your Sade Sati end?
Saturn leaves your second house on 3 June 2027 and settles clear of it on 23 February 2028. Which of those dates is yours depends on your natal Moon’s degree. A chart reading gives you your own timeline rather than the sign-level average.
