Navpancham Yog 2026-2027: Grahas in Trine, With Dates

Published 2026-10-27 | Live Pandit Ji

Nine and Five (नवपंचम योग)

Nava is nine and pancham fifth. Two grahas are navpancham when, counting from the sign of one to the sign of the other, the count comes to 5, so that counting back the other way it comes to 9. Leo is the 5th from Aries, and Aries is the 9th from Leo. In house language this is a trine, the trikona relation.

There is a shorter way to say it. Checked across all 144 pairs of signs in the site’s sign table, two different signs are 5th and 9th apart exactly when they share an element. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are the fire signs; Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn the earth ones; the air and water signs make the other two triangles. A navpancham pair is two grahas in signs of one element, and nothing more is needed to spot one.

Guru and Shani: Most of 2027

The pair that gives the term its run in 2027 is Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter, retrograde, moves back into Cancer on 25 January 2027 with Saturn in Pisces, the two water signs at the ends of a trine, and they stay that way until 3 June 2027, when Saturn enters Aries. In the planet table Cancer is Jupiter’s exaltation sign and Pisces one of its own signs, so for those 129 days Jupiter is exalted and Saturn is in a sign Jupiter rules.

Between 3 June 2027 and 26 June 2027 the pair is broken, because Aries is the 10th from Cancer rather than a trine. Jupiter then enters Leo, and the two are navpancham again in the fire signs Leo and Aries until 20 October 2027, when Saturn moves back into Pisces. This second arrangement reads the other way in dignity terms: Aries is Saturn’s debilitation sign, and Jupiter is now in Leo, the Sun’s sign. Taken together the two stretches hold Jupiter and Saturn in trine for about 245 days of 2027. In both, Saturn is the 9th from Jupiter and Jupiter the 5th from Saturn. The sign changes behind them are on the Jupiter transit 2027 and Saturn transit 2027 pages.

Mangal and Shani: Four Times

Mars and Saturn are navpancham 4 times in the window, about 108 days of 2027 counted together. The first stretch is already running when the window opens and lasts 55 days, from 18 September 2026 to 12 November 2026, with Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces; it ends when Mars enters Leo. The pair returns in the water triangle in March 2027, in the fire triangle in June, and in the water triangle again from 20 October 2027, with Mars in Scorpio. All four are in the table below.

Only Jupiter Aspects Across a Trine

Every graha aspects the 7th from itself in Parashari drishti, and Mars and Saturn have extra aspects of their own, but in the planet table only Jupiter’s set (5th, 7th and 9th) includes the 5th and the 9th. So a navpancham pair has an aspect in it only when Jupiter is one of the two, and then the aspect runs from Jupiter to the other graha whichever way round the count goes; the partner does not aspect Jupiter back. Through both 2027 stretches with Saturn, Jupiter aspects Saturn and Saturn does not aspect Jupiter. Rahu and Ketu are left out of this page, partly because their table rows are mean-node and partly because, as the planet table records, traditions differ on whether they aspect at all. The full scheme is on the Guru drishti page.

Every Other Trine in the Window

The table lists every navpancham stretch in the window except the two Jupiter-Saturn ones. Apart from the Mars-Saturn rows, each lasts from a few days to a little over a month. Taking all fifteen pairs of the six grahas together, at least one pair is navpancham at every hour of 2027 in the table, so the bare word can be applied to the sky on any day of that year; it is the particular pair that carries the information.

Three Pairs That Are Never in Trine

Sun–Mercury, Sun–Venus and Mercury–Venus never stand 5th and 9th from each other anywhere in the 2026-2028 table, and the reason is not chance. Mercury and Venus are never far from the Sun, and so never far from each other; a trine needs the two grahas four signs apart, which is more room than these three ever take. Across the table the widest they reach is the 3rd and 11th for the Sun and Venus and the 4th and 10th for Mercury and Venus; the neighbouring-sign relation is set out on the Dwi-dwadash yoga page.

The Same Distance in Kundli Matching

Searches for navpancham yog in marriage mean a different thing: the distance between the bride’s and the groom’s Moon signs. There the 5/9 distance is one of the three forbidden Bhakoot distances, and the site’s Ashtakoot calculation, run on an Aries Moon and a Leo Moon, names it Navapanchaka and scores it 0 of 7. The cancellations the matching texts allow, and the other two forbidden distances, are on the Bhakoot koota page, and the kundli matching tool runs the full count for two people. The transit sense above and the matching sense share a word and a distance, and nothing else.

Reading a Transit Trine

A trine in the sky is the same for everyone. What a reading makes of it depends on which two houses of a particular chart the pair falls in, counted from the lagna or the Moon, and on the dasha running at the time, which is why this page stops at the dates. The other named distances between two grahas are on the Samsaptak (1/7) and Shadashtak (6/8) pages, and the named yogas compared by frequency are in the kundli yoga list.

In Hindi: नवपंचम योग 2026-2027: त्रिकोण में ग्रह, तारीखों सहित.

Trines in Your Own Chart

The Janam Kundli report places each graha by sign and house from your birth details, so any two grahas in signs of one element are visible together, and it lists your dasha periods with dates. It does not grade a trine or forecast from one. The free kundli tool draws the chart itself.
