Shadashtak Yoga 2026-2027: Transit Dates and End Dates

Published 2026-10-26 | Live Pandit Ji

Two Senses of One Word (षडाष्टक योग)

Shadashtak joins shashtha, six, and ashtaka, eight. Count from one graha’s sign to the other’s, counting the starting sign as the 1st: if the answer is 6 or 8, the pair is shadashtak, and counted the other way round the answer is always the other of the two numbers. With one graha in Leo and the other in Pisces, Pisces is the 8th from Leo and Leo the 6th from Pisces. In the site’s house table the 6th and the 8th are both classed dusthana.

In kundli matching the word means something narrower: the 6/8 Bhakoot, a distance between the bride’s and the groom’s Moon signs. The site’s own Ashtakoot calculation scores that distance zero of seven under the name Shadashtaka, and the rule with its two cancellations is explained on the Bhakoot koota page and in the 36 gunas explained. To test two people’s Moon signs, use the kundli matching tool. This page is about the other sense, the one transit columns use: two grahas in the sky, 6th and 8th from each other, for weeks or months at a time.

The Slow Pairs, November 2026 to the End of 2027

The Moon is left out, because it never stays in one sign for longer than about two and a half days. Each of the other six grahas from the Sun to Saturn was paired with each of the rest and tested across every sign change in the ingress table. The pairs that hold a 6/8 distance for months involve Saturn, which spends the whole period in Pisces and Aries. Jupiter and Saturn are shadashtak from 31 October 2026, when Jupiter enters Leo with Saturn in Pisces, until 25 January 2027, when Jupiter moves back into Cancer. The same Leo/Pisces arrangement comes back on 20 October 2027, the day Saturn moves back into Pisces, and ends on 26 November 2027, when Jupiter enters Virgo. Jupiter-Saturn shadashtak takes up 16.8% of the clock hours of 2027.

Mars and Saturn have the longest single stretch on this page: 117 days, from 12 November 2026 to 10 March 2027, with Mars in Leo and Saturn in Pisces. The pair returns three times in 2027, and counted together the Mars-Saturn stretches fill 46.1% of that year, a little under half. Mars and Jupiter, by contrast, are never 6th and 8th from each other between November 2026 and the end of 2027.

Kab Tak Rahega: The End Dates

“How long will it last” depends on which pair a column means, and the answer is always a sign change. For Jupiter and Saturn the stretches end on 25 January 2027 and 26 November 2027. For Mars and Saturn they end on 10 March 2027, 3 June 2027, 24 August 2027 and 20 October 2027. Each end date in the tables is the day of the ingress row that breaks the 6/8 count, so it is as firm as the ingress table itself; the stretches here involve no Rahu or Ketu row, whose dates are softer.

Which Graha Aspects Which

In Parashari drishti every graha aspects the 7th from itself, and the planet table gives three of them more: Mars the 4th, 7th and 8th, Jupiter the 5th, 7th and 9th, Saturn the 3rd, 7th and 10th. So at a 6/8 distance the Sun, Mercury and Venus aspect neither partner, and only Mars, through its 8th-house aspect, can reach a graha that is 8th from it. That is what happens in the first three Mars-Saturn stretches: Saturn is 8th from Mars, so Mars aspects Saturn and Saturn does not aspect Mars. In the Scorpio/Aries stretch of October 2027 the count is reversed, Saturn is 6th from Mars, and neither aspects the other. Jupiter and Saturn at 6/8 have no aspect on each other either way.

The Faster Pairs

Pairs that include the Sun, Mercury or Venus mostly last days or weeks, though Mercury and Venus each hold a 6/8 with Saturn for over two months in late 2026. The Sun and Saturn have three stretches, the first already running when November opens. Of the fifteen pairs, Sun–Mercury, Sun–Venus, Mars–Jupiter and Mercury–Venus have no 6/8 stretch in the window. Taking all fifteen pairs together, at least one is shadashtak for 76.8% of the clock hours of 2027, about three-quarters of the year, so the word is available to a transit column far more often than not.

What the Tradition Associates With It

Astrologers who use the transit term read a 6/8 pair through the two grahas and how they regard each other. In the natural friendship table Saturn counts Mars an enemy while Mars counts Saturn neutral; the Sun and Saturn count each other enemies; Jupiter and Saturn are neutral to each other. The significations come from the same table: Mars is the karaka of land and property and of engineering, among other things, Saturn of karma, labour and delay itself, Jupiter of teachers and gurus and of dharma. This page draws no outcome from any of it.

A transit is the same sky for everyone. What a reading makes of it depends on the houses those two signs occupy in a particular chart, counted from the lagna or the Moon, and on the dashas running. A 6/8 pair in a birth chart is a separate, fixed fact of that chart. Saturn’s own sign changes are on the Saturn transit 2027 page, Mars’s on Mars transit 2027, and Jupiter’s on Jupiter transit 2027. The opposite-sign arrangement is on the Samsaptak yoga page, and the full set of yogas, with how often each occurs, is in the kundli yoga list. Where These Signs Fall in Your Chart

The Janam Kundli report gives your lagna and Moon sign, the sign and house of every graha at birth, and your dasha periods with dates, which is what any reading of a transit pair is placed against. The report does not forecast from a shadashtak. A quick chart is also available from the free kundli tool.
