Shasha Yoga: Saturn in a Kendra, and Why 2026-28 Has None
Published 2026-10-26 | Live Pandit Ji
The Saturn Yoga of the Five (शश योग)
Shasha completes Parashara’s Pancha Mahapurusha set. It needs Saturn at birth in Capricorn or Aquarius, the signs Saturn rules, or in Libra, where it is exalted, and it needs that sign to be a kendra from the lagna: the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house. Saturn in Aquarius in the 11th house is in its own sign, but the 11th is not a kendra, so the yoga is not formed there.
The page works the rule out from the site’s planet, sign and house tables. The conclusion about the present comes from the DE421 ingress table. Neither part says what Shasha does for a person.
No Shasha Births in 2026, 2027 or 2028
The 2026–2028 ingress table moves Saturn between Pisces and Aries and nowhere else. It is in none of Libra, Capricorn or Aquarius at any point. Since the yoga needs Saturn in one of those three signs, nobody born in these three years has Shasha, whatever the lagna and whatever the hour. A reading that finds Shasha in a chart cast for these years has gone wrong somewhere.
The next window is far off. Libra, the nearest qualifying sign ahead of Aries, is six signs on, and the site’s pace table gives Saturn about 2½ years a sign, so it is more than a decade away. The table ends in 2028 and this page does not extrapolate a date beyond it. Saturn’s actual movements over these years are on the Saturn transit 2027 page.
The Lagnas That Could Hold It
For anyone born earlier, with Saturn in one of its three signs, the lagna decides. A sign’s kendras are always of its own type. Libra and Capricorn are movable and Aquarius is fixed, so the movable lagnas (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) have two Shasha positions, the fixed lagnas (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) one, through Aquarius, and the dual lagnas (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) none. It is the same pattern as Mars’s Ruchaka yoga, because Mars’s three signs have the same mix of types.
| Lagna | Shasha if Saturn is in | Saturn rules |
|---|---|---|
| Aries (मेष) | Libra (7th) or Capricorn (10th) | 10th and 11th |
| Taurus (वृषभ) | Aquarius (10th) | 9th and 10th |
| Gemini (मिथुन) | not possible | 8th and 9th |
| Cancer (कर्क) | Libra (4th) or Capricorn (7th) | 7th and 8th |
| Leo (सिंह) | Aquarius (7th) | 6th and 7th |
| Virgo (कन्या) | not possible | 5th and 6th |
| Libra (तुला) | Libra (1st) or Capricorn (4th) | 4th and 5th |
| Scorpio (वृश्चिक) | Aquarius (4th) | 3rd and 4th |
| Sagittarius (धनु) | not possible | 2nd and 3rd |
| Capricorn (मकर) | Libra (10th) or Capricorn (1st) | 1st and 2nd |
| Aquarius (कुम्भ) | Aquarius (1st) | 1st and 12th |
| Pisces (मीन) | not possible | 11th and 12th |
Taurus and Libra: Shasha From the Yogakaraka
Saturn is the greatest malefic in the planet table, but for Taurus and Libra ascendants it rules a kendra and a trikona together (9th and 10th for the first, 4th and 5th for the second), which makes it the yogakaraka of those charts in the tradition’s terms. A Shasha Saturn there is that yogakaraka in one of its own or exaltation signs, in an angle. For Capricorn and Aquarius Saturn is the lagna lord, so the 1st-house Shasha puts the chart’s own ruler on the ascendant.
The planet table gives Saturn its digbala, directional strength, in the 7th house. That is one Shasha position each for Aries, Cancer and Leo, and for Aries it is Saturn exalted in Libra in the 7th: dignity, angle and directional strength in the same placement. Whether that adds up to more for the person than the other rows is not something the table can say. The three sign placements are described on Saturn in Libra, Saturn in Capricorn and Saturn in Aquarius.
How It Is Read
Saturn is the karaka of karma, labour and old age in the planet table, among others, and readings of Shasha are built on those significations for a Saturn with full dignity in an angle. The lakshana chapters on the five Mahapurusha natives describe bodies; this page does not repeat them and offers no outcome for the yoga. A reading also sets it against the Saturn mahadasha and antardasha and the planets in or aspecting Saturn’s sign. A natal Shasha and a transit such as Sade Sati are separate questions: one is fixed at birth and the other is where Saturn is moving now.
The five yogas side by side, with how many days of 2026 to 2028 each is available, are on the Pancha Mahapurusha yoga page. The tradition’s account of Saturn’s nineteen-year period is in Saturn mahadasha.
Checking an Older Chart
For a birth before 2026, find the lagna; if it is a dual sign, there is no Shasha. Otherwise read the row and compare it with Saturn’s sign at birth. Saturn stays in a sign for years, so the sign is rarely in doubt, but the lagna depends on the birth time; the ascendant calculator works it out from date, time and place. In Hindi: शश योग: केन्द्र में शनि, और 2026-28 में यह क्यों नहीं.
Saturn’s Sign and House in Your Kundli
The Janam Kundli report calculates your lagna, where Saturn and each other graha sit by sign and house, and the dates of your dasha periods, from your birth details. Those are the facts the Shasha test runs on. The report does not grade the yoga or forecast from it.
