Daridra Yoga in Kundli: The 11th Lord in 6, 8 or 12
Published 2026-10-27 | Live Pandit Ji
Daridra means “poor”, and the name is the reason people search for it: kundli software flags it and the word alarms. The definition most handbooks and programs use is short. The lord of the 11th house sits in the 6th, 8th or 12th, the three dusthanas. That is a placement of one graha in one of three houses, so it says nothing about anyone until you know which graha it is, which sign it lands in and what else that graha rules, and all three depend on the lagna.
The older texts are less tidy than the software. They list several unrelated combinations under the same name, and different books use different ones. This page works out only the 11th-lord version, because that is the one a printed kundli is most likely to have flagged.
Why the 11th Lord
The 11th is the labha bhava; the site’s house table glosses it as “Labha means gain — the house of fulfilled desire” and lists income and gains, friends and networks, aspirations, elder siblings among its matters. It is an upachaya, not a dusthana. In the Parashari reading a lord carries its house’s matters to wherever it sits, so the rule pairs the house of gain with the three houses the tradition treats as difficult. That is the whole logic of the name, and it is a reading of a frame, not a statement about anyone’s income.

Whole-sign houses, as everywhere on the site. The dignity words are the same ones the 11th lord in the 8th, in the 6th and in the 12th pages use, because all of them read one table.
Five Lagnas Where the Lord Owns a Dusthana Too
For five lagnas the 11th lord also rules one of the three dusthanas: Jupiter for Taurus (the 8th), Mars for Gemini (the 6th), Mercury for Scorpio (the 8th), Venus for Sagittarius (the 6th) and Saturn for Pisces (the 12th). Only for Virgo and Libra is the 11th ruled by a graha with no second house, the Moon and the Sun. The five change the rule in two ways that no flag in a software report shows.
First, one of the three placements puts the lord in the dusthana it owns, which is always its own sign. Mars in the 6th for a Gemini lagna is in Scorpio; the formula still reads it as the 11th lord in a dusthana, and the same graha is sitting at home. Second, the other two placements meet the definition of Vipreet Raja yoga, a dusthana lord placed in another dusthana, so ten cells of the table carry a Daridra name and a Raja-yoga name for one placement. Gemini’s Mars in the 8th is both, and it is exalted there in Capricorn.
Practitioners differ on a case like that: some give the dusthana lordship the deciding weight, some the 11th; this page does not choose between them, and it is the main reason a flag on a report is the start of a reading and not its result.
Dignity in the Table
Three cells place the 11th lord in its exaltation sign: Mars in the 8th for Gemini, Jupiter in the 6th for Aquarius and Saturn in the 8th for Pisces. Two place it in its debilitation sign: Mercury in the 8th for Leo and Jupiter in the 12th for Aquarius. Aquarius is the lagna with both, Jupiter exalted in the 6th and debilitated in the 12th, so for one ascendant the same rule covers the signs the tradition counts as a graha’s strongest and weakest.
Is There a Cancellation?
“Daridra yoga cancellation” is a common search, and there is no agreed list for this yoga. What gets called a cancellation online is usually one of the things the table already shows: the lord in its own or exaltation sign, the lord also ruling the dusthana it sits in, or a Vipreet placement. Those are facts about the chart. Whether they outweigh the rule is a judgement each astrologer makes differently, and no chart state is a reason to change what you do with money; that is a question for your own circumstances and, where it matters, a financial adviser.
Checking Your Own Chart
You need two things: the lagna, and the house the 11th lord occupies. The free kundli gives the lagna, and the row for it above tells you which graha rules your 11th; the house every graha sits in is printed in a full kundli report. The other house-lord combinations are on the house lords hub. Related yoga pages built on the same lordship table are Kendradhipati dosha and Parivartan yoga; the dhan yoga page covers the combinations the tradition names for the opposite theme. In Hindi: कुंडली में दरिद्र योग: ग्यारहवें भाव का स्वामी 6, 8, 12 में.
