Dwi Dwadash Yog 2026-2027: Grahas in Neighbouring Signs

Published 2026-10-27 | Live Pandit Ji

Second and Twelfth (द्विद्वादश योग)

Dwi is two and dwadash twelve. Two grahas are dwi-dwadash when they sit in neighbouring signs: Taurus is the 2nd from Aries, and Aries the 12th from Taurus. Whichever graha is the later one in the zodiac is 2nd from the other, and the earlier one is 12th from it. In the site’s sign table two neighbouring signs always differ in gender, odd against even, and they never share an element, since a shared element needs the signs four apart.

It is also the only distance between two signs with no aspect in it. Every graha aspects the 7th from itself, Mars adds the 4th and 8th, Jupiter the 5th and 9th and Saturn the 3rd and 10th, and none of those sets in the planet table contains the 2nd or the 12th. Two grahas in neighbouring signs therefore do not aspect each other in Parashari drishti, either way round, while at every other distance at least one graha can reach the other. Rahu and Ketu are left out of this page: their table rows are mean-node, and the planet table records that traditions differ on whether they aspect at all.

Why the Sun, Mercury and Venus Are So Often in It

Mercury is in the Sun’s sign or one of the two beside it at every hour of the 2026-2028 table. Measured over 2027, it shares the Sun’s sign 49% of the time and sits next door the other 51%. Venus ranges a little wider: in the Sun’s sign 31% of 2027, in a neighbouring sign 59%, and two signs away for the remaining 10%. Between them those two pairs keep the word in use for much of any year, and counting all fifteen pairs of the six grahas, at least one pair is dwi-dwadash for 93% of 2027. For that reason the table below leaves out Sun–Mercury, Sun–Venus and Mercury–Venus, whose stretches come and go every few weeks, and lists the slower pairs in full.

Mangal and Guru: A Year Side by Side

From 2 August 2026 to 24 August 2027, Mars and Jupiter are never further apart than neighbouring signs. They switch between sharing a sign and standing 2nd and 12th, because Jupiter moves between Cancer and Leo and Mars, retrograde in early 2027, does the same. The run opens before this page’s window, with Mars in Gemini behind Jupiter in Cancer from 2 August 2026, and the two share Cancer from 18 September 2026 to 31 October 2026. From then on:

  • 31 October 2026 to 12 November 2026: Mars in Cancer, Jupiter in Leo, 12 days; it ends when Mars enters Leo, and the two then share Leo until 25 January 2027.
  • 25 January 2027 to 10 March 2027: Mars in Leo, Jupiter in Cancer, 44 days; it ends when Mars moves back into Cancer, and the two then share Cancer until 26 April 2027.
  • 26 April 2027 to 26 June 2027: Mars in Leo, Jupiter in Cancer, 61 days; it ends when Jupiter enters Leo, and the two then share Leo until 5 July 2027.
  • 5 July 2027 to 24 August 2027: Mars in Virgo, Jupiter in Leo, 50 days; it ends when Mars enters Libra.

The Cancer spell in the middle has a particular profile in the planet table: Cancer is Mars’s debilitation sign and Jupiter’s exaltation sign, so from 10 March 2027 to 26 April 2027 the two are together with one debilitated and the other exalted. The pair-by-pair conjunction dates are on the Mars-Jupiter conjunction page, and Mars’s retrograde loop is on the Mars transit 2027 page.

Shani’s Pairs: Either Side of a Conjunction

A fast graha catching up with a slow one passes through the 2/12 relation twice, once on the way in and once on the way out. The Sun shows the pattern plainly. With Saturn in Pisces, the Sun is in Aquarius from 13 February 2027, and Saturn is the 2nd from it; the two share Pisces from 15 March 2027 to 14 April 2027; then the Sun moves into Aries, Saturn is the 12th from it, and that lasts until 15 May 2027. Each of the four times the Sun, Mercury or Venus joins Saturn in 2027 is framed the same way, with a 2/12 stretch ending the day the conjunction starts and another starting the day it ends. Mars and Saturn, and Jupiter and Saturn, are never in neighbouring signs at any point in the window.

Dwirdwadash in Kundli Matching

The same distance has a separate life in matching, where it is measured between two people’s Moon signs. It is one of the three Bhakoot distances the matching rules forbid; the site’s Ashtakoot calculation, run on an Aries Moon and a Taurus Moon, calls it Dwirdwadasha and scores it 0 of 7. Its cancellations are on the Bhakoot koota page and the full count for two people is in the kundli matching tool. A dwi-dwadash pair in the sky says nothing about a match, and a 2/12 Bhakoot says nothing about the sky.

What the Dates Are For

The sky is the same for everyone on these dates. A reading turns on which houses of a particular chart the two neighbouring signs occupy, counted from the lagna or the Moon, and on the dasha running, so this page gives the dates and stops there. Grahas at the other named distances are on the Navpancham (5/9), Shadashtak (6/8) and Samsaptak (1/7) pages, and the named yogas are compared in the kundli yoga list. In Hindi: द्विद्वादश योग 2026-2027: पड़ोसी राशियों में ग्रह.

Neighbouring Signs in Your Own Chart

The Janam Kundli report places each graha by sign and house from your birth details, so grahas in neighbouring houses are visible side by side, and it lists your dasha periods with dates. It does not grade a 2/12 or forecast from one. The free kundli tool draws the chart itself.
