Sun in Scorpio 2026: Surya Gochar Vrishchik Rashi Dates

Published 2026-10-26 | Live Pandit Ji

When Surya Enters Vrishchika (सूर्य, वृश्चिक)

The Sun crosses from Libra into Scorpio at 19:39 IST on 16 November 2026, and from Scorpio into Sagittarius at 10:20 IST on 16 December 2026. By calendar date that is 30 days; instant to instant it is 29.6 days. The site’s pace table gives the Sun about 30½ days per sign, so this spell runs a little short. The shortfall is real rather than a rounding: the ingress table has the Sun moving 1.008° a day at the entry and 1.017° at the exit, both above the yearly average of 0.986° that the pace table’s cycle implies, and a little faster at the exit than at the entry.

Printed calendars often carry a fixed range for the sidereal Sun in each sign, and the site’s sign table gives Scorpio’s as Nov 17 – Dec 15. In 2026 the crossing comes on the evening before that range opens. The date drifts from year to year: the same table puts the 2027 entry in the small hours of 17 November 2027, after midnight rather than before it. Asking “surya vrishchik rashi mein kab” therefore needs the year in the question.

The Entry Instant, and What This Page Does Not Date

The moment the Sun crosses into Scorpio is the instant the tradition calls Vrishchika Sankranti, and the site’s sign table records that name. The day on which a Sankranti is kept, and the auspicious interval almanacs attach to it, are a separate matter, settled by rules about sunrise and the hour of the crossing that this page does not apply. It names no observance day and no such window; a local panchang is where that question belongs.

The minute itself is printed because the Sun is fast. At 1.01° a day, one arcminute of longitude corresponds to about 24 minutes of clock, so an almanac using an ayanamsa a fraction of a minute of arc different from the Lahiri value used here will put the crossing some minutes earlier or later and still be correct on its own terms. The date is not in doubt: 19:39 is about 10 arcminutes’ worth of clock before midnight. The Sagittarius crossing at 10:20 is further still from either midnight, at about 24 minutes of clock per arcminute.

Date (IST)Event
6 November 2026Sun crosses into Vishakha, still in Libra
13 November 2026Mercury stations direct, in Libra
16 November 2026Mars and Jupiter conjunct, in Leo (conjunction table)
16 November 2026, 19:39Sun enters Scorpio
20 November 2026Sun crosses into Anuradha
2 December 2026Mercury enters Scorpio
3 December 2026Sun crosses into Jyeshtha
11 December 2026Saturn stations direct, in Pisces
13 December 2026Jupiter stations retrograde, in Leo
16 December 2026, 10:20Sun enters Sagittarius and crosses into Moola

Only the two Sun ingresses carry a clock time. Stations, nakshatra crossings and the conjunction row are given by the day. The Mars–Jupiter row falls on the same calendar day as the Sun’s entry; that is a coincidence of dates in two different tables, and the page reads nothing into it.

Out of Libra, Into a Sign of Mars

The site’s planet table lists Libra as the Sun’s sign of debilitation, so this ingress is the Sun moving out of that sign into the next one. Scorpio is not one of the Sun’s dignity signs in that table: its own sign is Leo and its exaltation sign is Aries. Scorpio’s lord in the sign table is Mars, which also rules Aries. The page reports these as rows. It does not turn them into a statement about what the month holds for anyone.

Two further rows belong to Scorpio itself. The sign table names no graha exalted in it, and names the Moon as the graha debilitated there, which the planet table confirms from the other side. And for the whole of the Sun’s spell, Scorpio’s own lord stands in Leo, the Sun’s own sign, with Jupiter in Leo beside it; neither changes sign before the Sun moves on. The Mars side of that layout is on the Mars in Leo 2026 page, and the general reading of the placement is on the Sun in Scorpio reference page.

The Sun and Mars in the Friendship Table

The friendship table is read in two directions, because a graha’s row and the other graha’s row need not agree. Here they mostly do. Mars is a friend in the Sun’s row and the Sun is a friend in Mars’s row, which is why the site’s dignity calculation labels the Sun in a Mars sign “friendly”. The full set:

GrahaIn the Sun’s rowThe Sun in its row
Moonfriendfriend
Marsfriendfriend
Mercuryneutralfriend
Jupiterfriendfriend
Venusenemyenemy
Saturnenemyenemy

In both directions the Moon, Mars and Jupiter are friends, and Venus and Saturn are enemies. Only for Mercury do the two rows disagree: the Sun’s row has it as neutral, while Mercury’s row has the Sun as a friend. It is also the one graha that enters Scorpio while the Sun is there.

Mercury Before and During the Month

Mercury spends its whole retrograde inside Libra and stations direct there on 13 November 2026, 3 days before the Sun leaves that sign; the loop is set out on the Mercury retrograde 2026 page. It then enters Scorpio on 2 December 2026, so the two share the sign for the last 14 days of the Sun’s spell, and Mercury is still in Scorpio when the Sun moves on; it reaches Sagittarius on 22 December. The conjunction table has no row for the Sun with any graha between the two ingresses. Mercury’s own month in the sign is covered on the Mercury in Scorpio 2026 page.

Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Then Moola (नक्षत्र)

The Sun does not change nakshatra at the sign line. It enters Vishakha on 6 November 2026, while still in Libra, and Vishakha runs on across the boundary into the opening degrees of Scorpio. It moves into Anuradha on 20 November 2026 and into Jyeshtha on 3 December 2026; both lie wholly inside Scorpio. Jyeshtha’s span ends exactly where Scorpio does, and Moola begins at Sagittarius 0°00′, so the exit is one event in two tables: the nakshatra table’s Moola crossing carries the same timestamp as the Sagittarius ingress. The nakshatra table gives the four lords as Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury and Ketu. Crossings are given by the day here, and no pada is named.

The Slower Planets While the Sun Is in Scorpio

Two stations fall inside the spell, both in the last week. Saturn turns direct in Pisces on 11 December 2026, closing a 137-day retrograde (Saturn retrograde 2026), and Jupiter turns retrograde in Leo on 13 December 2026, opening a retrograde that the site’s table carries from Leo back into Cancer (Jupiter retrograde 2026). The mean lunar nodes also change sign during the month; the site prints no time for them, because the nodes’ rows are a formula rather than an ephemeris reading, and the move is covered on the Rahu–Ketu transit 2026 page.

The exit matters for a different calendar. The Sun’s entry into Sagittarius opens the period almanacs call Kharmas. Its dates and the customs attached to it are on the Kharmas December 2026 page, and this page does not restate them.

Counting Scorpio From Your Moon Sign (चंद्र राशि से भाव)

In gochara, a transit is counted from the janma rashi, the Moon’s sign at birth, taken as the 1st house. The table below makes that count for Scorpio and names each house as the site’s house tables do. The planet table gives the Sun a single aspect, the 7th, which from Scorpio falls on Taurus (Vrishabha), a sign of Venus and the sign where the sign table exalts the Moon; the last column counts that house too. A house names a field of life, and the house pages list what the tradition assigns to each. The table says nothing about what the transit does there.

A Moon-sign count is a starting grid, not a reading. It leaves out the lagna, the house the Sun rules in a given chart, any natal planet in Scorpio or Taurus, and the dasha in force. The Moon sign calculator gives your janma rashi from birth details. The Sunday fast that devotees of Surya keep is described on Sunday fasting for Surya Dev, and the practices the tradition prescribes where a chart’s Sun is judged weak are collected in remedies for a weak Sun; neither is tied to this transit.

The Dates, Briefly

Sun into Scorpio 16 November 2026 at 19:39 IST; into Anuradha 20 November; Mercury into Scorpio 2 December; into Jyeshtha 3 December; Saturn direct 11 December; Jupiter retrograde 13 December; Sun into Sagittarius and Moola 16 December 2026 at 10:20 IST. Midway, on 1 December 2026, the monthly position row has the Sun 14.3° into Scorpio, 15 days after the entry. In Hindi: सूर्य का वृश्चिक राशि में गोचर 2026: प्रवेश समय और तारीखें.

Where Scorpio Falls in Your Chart

The ingress times are the same for every reader; the house Scorpio occupies is not. The Janam Kundli report calculates your lagna, Moon sign, each graha’s sign and house, and the dasha sequence with dates, from your date, time and place of birth. It is not an interpretation of this transit; it is the chart such an interpretation would need.
