Where the 2nd and 11th Lordship Comes From

Mercury owns Gemini and Virgo. Counting from Leo as the first house, Gemini is the 11th and Virgo is the 2nd — which is the whole of it. Two signs, two houses — the 2nd and the 11th from Leo — and the verdict on emerald turns on which of the two carries more weight.

That is a stricter line than this page takes, and the difference is worth naming. The Leo page puts 11th-lordship on its avoid side, and it does so consistently — in all twelve places on the grid where a graha owns the 11th from an ascendant, its stone is on that ascendant's avoid list and never on its good one. The trikona and dusthana test this page runs says nothing about the 11th in either direction. Nothing else in the derivation points against emerald here either, so the honest position is that the two pages differ and this one does not overrule the other.

Wearing It Alongside Ruby

Ruby is the Leo primary stone, because the Sun rules Leo (Simha) and owns the 1st from it. So the pairing a Leo native is most likely to consider is emerald with ruby, and whether that is allowed depends on how Mercury and the Sun rate each other.

Mercury rates the Sun a friend, and the Sun rates Mercury a neutral. No enmity in either direction, so the combination is permitted.

If the appeal is emerald itself rather than Mercury, its upratna is green onyx — a substitute of the same graha with a far milder effect, which is the usual compromise where the primary stone is contraindicated.

The Ascendants Emerald Reads Differently For
