Leo Rashifal February 2027 (Simha Rashi): A Full Moon on Your Rashi, Two Degrees From Retrograde Mars

Published 2026-08-20 | Live Pandit Ji

Simha Rashi has a single dominant event this month and it lands on the rashi itself. At 4:53 am on Sunday 21 February the Full Moon forms at 7°51′ of Leo. Mars, retrograde, is at 6°01′ of Leo at that same instant — one degree and fifty-one minutes away, in the same nakshatra. A Full Moon on your own sign is the year’s emotional peak for any rashi. One sitting two degrees from a retrograde Mars is a peak with an edge on it.

Mars has been in Leo since before the year began and is retrograde for every day of February, retreating from 13°06′ to 3°11′ — nearly ten degrees given back in twenty-eight days. The whole retreat happens inside Magha, the first nakshatra of Leo, which spans 0° to 13°20′ of the sign. So does the Full Moon: it falls in Magha’s third pada, with Mars in its second.

A Retrograde Mars on Your Own Rashi

Mars on the rashi is normally read as drive, initiative and a short fuse. Mars retrograde on the rashi inverts the first two and keeps the third. The energy is there and it does not discharge outward — which for Simha Rashi, a sign that runs on forward motion and on being seen to lead, is the specific frustration of the month. Effort put in does not produce visible movement, and the temptation is to double it.

The dates bound it. Mars turns direct on 1 April 2027 at 7:42 pm, and it will not be back on Leo until 26 April 2027 at 11:28 am — because it reverses out of your sign into Cancer, debilitated, on 10 March 2027 at 12:30 am. So the retrograde on your rashi runs to 10 March, and then the month after that is a debilitated Mars in your twelfth house, which is quieter but not stronger. The clean stretch begins at the end of April.

What to do with February, then, is unglamorous and effective: finish things. A retrograde Mars completes well and initiates badly. The projects that have been three-quarters done for months are the ones that will move, and the new venture is the one to hold until April.

Magha, and Why the 21st Is a Day for Remembrance

Two things about Magha are relevant, and both are standard attributions rather than interpretation. Its presiding deities are the Pitrs, the ancestors. Its ruling planet is Ketu — and Ketu, this month, is in your twelfth house with exalted Jupiter, closing from 26°59′ to 25°30′ of Cancer.

Where classical practice prescribes anything for a Magha lunation, it is remembrance of the lineage rather than any new undertaking — which is why the observances on our Pitra Dosh page fit the 21st better than an ambitious plan would. It also gives the day a shape that is easier to work with: a Full Moon on the rashi with a retrograde Mars beside it is not a day to launch or to confront, and it is a good day to settle something with the family.

Ardha Ashtama Shani: Saturn in Your Eighth

Saturn is in Pisces, which is the eighth house from Leo. Saturn transiting the eighth from the natal Moon has its own classical name — Ardha Ashtama Shani, the half-eighth Saturn — and it is one of the three difficult Saturn positions alongside Sade Sati and the fourth-house Kantaka Shani. Simha Rashi is in it now.

The honest description of an eighth-house Saturn is delay in things that involve other people’s money and other people’s permission: claims, settlements, inherited property, tax matters, and anything requiring a signature from an institution. It also tends to produce a period of low-grade uncertainty about security rather than any single event. It is not dangerous. It is slow, and slowness is what Simha Rashi finds hardest.

The dates are fixed and worth keeping. Saturn is direct all month, advancing from 16°01′ to 18°49′ of Pisces, and on Monday 8 February it crosses into Revati, the last nakshatra of the zodiac — the final nakshatra it occupies in your eighth house. Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries on 3 June 2027, which ends Ardha Ashtama Shani; it returns to Pisces on 20 October 2027, which reinstates it for about four months; and it settles in Aries on 23 February 2028. That last date is when the eighth-house Saturn is finished for the next twenty-nine years.

Your Ruler Crosses Rahu, Then Changes House

The Sun rules Simha Rashi, and it has two appointments this month. At 11:05 pm on Tuesday 9 February it crosses Rahu exactly, at 26°30′ of Capricorn — your sixth house. In the same minute, at 11:05 pm, Mercury turned retrograde at 11°45′ of Aquarius, your seventh. Two separate events, inside the same minute; a coincidence of the calendar rather than a yoga, but a useful one to date the fortnight from.

Then at 10:04 am on Saturday 13 February the Sun leaves Capricorn for Aquarius at the Kumbha Sankranti ingress, moving from your sixth house to your seventh. The sixth is competition, illness and debt; the seventh is partnership. So the first fortnight has your ruler in the house of adversaries, meeting the node there, and the second has it opposite you in the house of the other person. For a sign that reads its own year through the Sun, that is a real change of tone on the 13th.

The Sun then meets retrograde Mercury at 5°34′ of Aquarius at 10:09 pm on Thursday 18 February, in that same seventh house. Read together: the second fortnight puts a partner, a client or a spouse at the centre of the month, with a retrograde Mercury there arguing that the subject is something already discussed rather than something new.

Exalted Jupiter in Your Twelfth

Cancer is the twelfth house from Leo, and Jupiter is exalted in it all month, retrograde, moving from 29°09′ back to 25°32′, with Ketu alongside, closing from 26°59′ to 25°30′. The two meet exactly on 1 March at 25°27′ of Cancer, and both spend the month in Ashlesha.

An exalted benefic in the twelfth is a genuinely odd placement. The twelfth house is expenditure, foreign matters, retreat, hospitals, and what you release rather than keep — so a strong Jupiter there does its work out of sight. In practice it tends to look like money spent well rather than money gained, help given rather than received, a period abroad or in study, or a spiritual practice that finally takes. It is also the classical placement for moksha-directed effort. Simha Rashi will not find it satisfying and may find it valuable, which is not the same thing.

Dates to Keep for Simha Rashi

  • 9:26 pm, Saturday 6 February: the New Moon forms in your sixth house at 23°24′ of Capricorn, Dhanishta pada 1, three degrees short of Rahu.
  • Monday 8 February: Saturn enters Revati, the last nakshatra of the zodiac, in your eighth house.
  • 11:05 pm, Tuesday 9 February: Mercury stations retrograde in your seventh house, and your ruler crosses Rahu in your sixth in the same minute.
  • 10:04 am, Saturday 13 February: the Sun crosses into Aquarius and your seventh house at the Kumbha Sankranti ingress.
  • 10:09 pm, Thursday 18 February: the Sun meets retrograde Mercury at 5°34′ of Aquarius, in your seventh house.
  • 4:53 am, Sunday 21 February: the Full Moon forms on Simha Rashi itself at 7°51′, in Magha pada 3, 1°51′ from retrograde Mars.
  • 4:46 am and 3:11 pm, Wednesday 24 February: Mercury reverses into your sixth house, and Venus enters the same house going forwards ten hours later.
  • 12:30 am, 10 March 2027: Mars reverses out of your rashi into Cancer, debilitated, and your twelfth house holds it until 26 April.

Week by Week

1–7 February

Mercury is still direct, which makes this the week for anything that has to be initiated. The New Moon of Saturday the 6th falls in your sixth house — an unusually good date for starting a course of treatment, a fitness routine or a plan to clear a debt, since the sixth is the house those belong to. Saturn enters Revati early on Monday the 8th.

8–14 February

Tuesday the 9th carries both events inside the same minute, with your ruler on the node in your sixth house. Expect a competitor, a claim or a health matter to be louder than it deserves in that stretch. From Saturday the 13th the Sun moves to your seventh and the tone shifts from adversary to partner.

15–21 February

The Sun and retrograde Mercury together in your seventh house, meeting on Thursday the 18th, favour reopening a conversation with someone you already deal with over starting with someone new. The week ends at the month’s peak: the Full Moon on your own rashi at 4:53 am on Sunday the 21st, two degrees from your retrograde Mars. Keep that morning free of confrontation.

22–28 February

Your sixth house takes both Mercury and Venus on Wednesday the 24th, ten hours apart and travelling in opposite directions. Venus in the sixth is the better of the two — it eases dealings with people who work for you and takes the sting out of a health or debt matter. Finish the month’s outstanding work here rather than opening anything.

Work, Money and the Eighth House

Money this month is dominated by the eighth-house Saturn rather than by anything in the second or eleventh. Ardha Ashtama Shani slows anything that depends on an institution releasing funds — a claim, a refund, an inheritance, a loan approval. The correct response is to keep asking on a schedule rather than to escalate, because escalation under an eighth-house Saturn generally adds a step to the process.

At work, the retrograde Mars on your rashi means initiative is expensive and completion is cheap. The most profitable thing available to Simha Rashi in February is finishing something that has been sitting at ninety per cent, and taking the credit for it — which is a Leo strength anyway. Hold the launch, the resignation and the new venture until Mars is direct on 1 April 2027.

Relationships

The seventh house is where the month’s relational weather is: retrograde Mercury in it from the 9th to the 24th, the Sun in it from the 13th, and the two meeting exactly on the 18th. That is a fortnight for revisiting an unresolved conversation, and a poor fortnight for a first commitment. Venus is in your fifth house until the 24th, which supports romance and creative work more than it supports formal partnership.

The Full Moon on your rashi on the 21st is the emotional pressure valve, and with a retrograde Mars two degrees away it will find the sorest subject available. Simha Rashi’s failure mode here is pride — treating a partner’s complaint as a challenge to authority. The day rewards hearing it out.

Health

Two things converge and both point at the same instruction. A retrograde Mars on the rashi classically shows as inflammation, heat and blood pressure rather than as injury, and an eighth-house Saturn adds a general instruction to take chronic matters seriously rather than to wait them out. Meanwhile the New Moon of the 6th in your sixth house is the best date in the month for beginning a treatment or a routine.

The one thing not to do is add training volume. That applies to every sign while Mars is retrograde, and it applies twice to the sign the retrograde Mars is sitting on. Hold the load steady to 1 April 2027.

Remedies for Simha Rashi in February 2027

Four live conditions: a retrograde Mars on the rashi, a Full Moon 1°51′ from it in Magha, Ardha Ashtama Shani in the eighth house, and an exalted Jupiter with Ketu in the twelfth.

  • Hanuman worship on the four Tuesdays — 2, 9, 16 and 23 February: the standard observance for a Mars that has lost strength, and yours is retrograde on your own rashi for the whole month. Sindoor, a chola offering and the Hanuman Chalisa; the Mangal remedies page has the fuller set and Tuesday fasting is the common form.
  • Finish rather than start, all month: the practical translation of a retrograde ruler-of-initiative on your sign. Anything begun before 1 April 2027 tends to be begun twice.
  • Saturday observance for Shani — 6, 13, 20 and 27 February: Ardha Ashtama Shani is running and continues, with one interruption, to 23 February 2028. Sesame oil and iron, black til, a peepal lamp after sundown. Our Shani remedies page covers the forms and Saturday fasting is the usual observance.
  • Remembrance of the ancestors on or around the 21st: the Full Moon falls on your rashi in Magha, whose deities are the Pitrs and whose lord Ketu sits in your twelfth house. Water offered facing south and a simple tarpan are the classical forms.
  • Keep the morning of the 21st free of confrontation: a Full Moon on the rashi two degrees from a retrograde Mars. Whatever is raised then will be remembered in the terms it was raised in.
  • Surya Namaskar and water to the Sun in the mornings: your ruler crosses Rahu on the 9th and then spends the second fortnight opposite you in the seventh house. The Sun-directed observances are the ones that suit Simha Rashi best in any month, and this is a month with the ruler under pressure.
  • Spend the twelfth-house Jupiter deliberately: an exalted Jupiter there gives its returns through what you release — fees for study, help to someone who cannot repay it, a genuine practice. Ketu at the same degree makes absent-minded giving likely; choose the recipient instead.
  • Chase the institutional matter on a schedule, do not escalate it: the counter to an eighth-house Saturn. A fixed weekly follow-up moves a claim faster than pressure does under this transit.

In Summary

February 2027 concentrates on Simha Rashi itself. The Full Moon forms at 7°51′ of Leo at 4:53 am on Sunday 21 February, 1°51′ from a retrograde Mars, both of them in Magha — the Moon in its third pada, Mars in its second. A Full Moon on the rashi is the year’s emotional high point; this one has a retrograde Mars beside it and Magha’s ancestral character behind it, which makes the 21st a day for remembrance and for listening rather than for action.

Mars is retrograde on your sign every day of the month, losing nearly ten degrees, and it does not turn direct until 1 April 2027 — reversing out into Cancer, where it is debilitated, in your twelfth house on 10 March along the way. The month rewards completion and punishes initiative, which is the opposite of Simha Rashi’s instinct and the most useful thing on this page.

Around that: Saturn runs Ardha Ashtama Shani in your eighth house and enters Revati, the zodiac’s final nakshatra, on Monday the 8th; your ruler the Sun crosses Rahu in your sixth house at 11:05 pm on Tuesday the 9th, in the same minute as Mercury’s retrograde station, and moves to your seventh on the 13th; and exalted Jupiter sits with Ketu in your twelfth house, the two reaching the same degree on 1 March.

How sharply the Full Moon lands depends on where in Leo your natal Moon actually sits — at 7°51′ it falls in Magha, so a Moon in Magha takes it directly while a Moon in Purva Phalguni or Uttara Phalguni feels it as a sign-level event rather than a personal one. What Simha Rashi settles and what the pada decides works through that distinction, the Jupiter transit guide covers the exaltation across all twelve rashis, and January’s reading shows where the retrograde began.

When does Ardha Ashtama Shani end for you?

Saturn leaves your eighth house on 3 June 2027, returns to it in October, and finishes on 23 February 2028 — but the phase is counted from your natal Moon’s degree. A chart reading gives you the exact window.
