October 2027 hands Simha Rashi one hard placement and one good one, and they run at the same time. On 20 October retrograde Saturn crosses backwards out of Aries into Pisces. Aries was your ninth house; Pisces is your eighth. Saturn in the eighth house from the Moon sign is what the tradition calls Ashtama Shani, and for Simha it begins that day.

The counterweight is on your sign itself. Jupiter occupies Simha for all thirty-one days, moving from 19°58′ to 26°00′ — from Purva Phalguni pada 2 into pada 4 — and it is visible in the evening sky throughout, with no combustion window anywhere in October. What Ashtama Shani Actually Is

Ashtama Shani is Saturn transiting the eighth house counted from your Moon sign. It is not a curse and it is not the same thing as Sade Sati, which is Saturn through the twelfth, first and second from the Moon — and which Simha is not in this month. What the eighth-house transit classically does is expose whatever was structurally weak: joint finances, an insurance or inheritance matter, a health issue that had been ignored, a dependency you had not audited.

Two honest qualifications belong here. First, Saturn is retrograde through the whole of October, so this is a re-entry rather than a first arrival — it had already moved on into Aries and is now coming back. The Full Moon of the month forms at 7:17 pm on Friday 15 October, at 27°42′ of Pisces, in Revati pada 4. For Simha that is your eighth house. Saturn then reverses into Revati on 20 October and spends the rest of the month in that same pada 4.

The sequence is worth reading as a sequence. A Full Moon in the eighth house shows you the actual state of what you hold jointly — a loan, a shared account, a policy, an inheritance conversation, a dependency. Saturn arriving in the same degrees five days later is what makes that visible thing into a working problem with a timeline. If something surfaced around the 15th, it is not going away; it is being handed a deadline.

Sharad Purnima falls on Thursday 14 October, and its tithi runs out at the Full Moon instant on the 15th, so the observance sits immediately before the eighth-house lunation rather than on it.

The Moon holds Simha from 5:41 pm on Sunday 24 October to 8:10 pm on Tuesday 26 October — fifty hours twenty-nine minutes. That is the shortest of October’s twelve windows; the longest, on Capricorn, runs sixty hours fifty-seven minutes. The difference between the two is ten and a half hours, and it is a real consequence of the Moon’s elliptical orbit rather than a matter of interpretation.

What the short window carries is better than its length suggests. Jupiter is standing on Simha, and the Moon passes over Jupiter’s degree on Tuesday the 26th, near the end of the stay. We give that as a day and not a minute for the same reason as Saturn: a crossing of another body’s degree in mid-sign depends on both positions and on the ayanamsa, unlike a sign boundary.

Practically, the 25th and the 26th are your best two days of the month for anything that needs both confidence and goodwill — a request, a proposal, a reconciliation. They fall after Saturn’s house change and after Mercury has regained its exaltation, and before the month closes.
