Capricorn Rashifal May 2027 (Makara Rashi): Rahu on the Rashi, Kantaka Shani Coming
Published 2026-08-21 | Live Pandit Ji
Three things sit on Makara Rashi’s chart in May 2027 and each of them is on a clock. Rahu is on your rashi for the whole month. Jupiter is exalted in your seventh house and leaves it on 26 June, not to return for about twelve years. And Saturn — your ruler — spends its last full month in the third house, one of the three places it does its best work, before entering your fourth on 3 June 2027 and beginning Kantaka Shani.
So this is a month to finish things in. The two positions that help you — your ruler well placed, your seventh house at maximum strength — both expire in the first four weeks of June, and Rahu on the rashi will still be there when they go. Everything below is dated, because the dates are the useful part.
Rahu on Makara Rashi, All Thirty-One Days
Rahu moves from 22°16′ to 20°37′ of Capricorn this month — backwards, as it always moves, one degree and thirty-nine arc-minutes — and stays in the fourth pada of Shravana for all thirty-one days. No nakshatra change, no pada change, no station: of every body in the sky, Rahu is the one that does nothing in May, and it does that nothing on your rashi.
Rahu on the Moon sign is ambition without a floor. It enlarges whatever it touches and gives nothing to stand on, so the standard signature is restlessness, a hunger for more than the situation contains, a tendency to be seen as more than you are and to feel like less. Shravana is the nakshatra of listening — Vishnu’s ear, the star of hearing and of reputation carried by word of mouth — and Rahu there tends to produce noise about you rather than by you. What people say is not fully in your control this month.
The practical reading is narrow and worth taking seriously: do not add. Rahu on the rashi is a poor month to take on a new obligation, a second job, an extra loan or a bigger commitment, because the appetite is inflated and the ground is not. It is a good month to finish. Our Rahu–Ketu remedies page covers the axis, and the Kaal Sarp page covers the case where your natal chart has the nodes hemming the rest in.
Exalted Jupiter in Your Seventh House, Until 26 June
Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, which is your seventh house — marriage, partnership, contracts, the person opposite you. An exalted Jupiter in the seventh is one of the better things a transit chart can offer, and it is here now: 23°14′ to 26°09′, a movement of only 2°55′ across the whole month, entirely inside Ashlesha, crossing from the second pada into the third. It has been direct since 13 April.
The complication is Ketu, which sits in the same house. Ketu detaches from whatever it touches, and while it was on top of Jupiter the exaltation could not be felt — the two were exact on 20 April. May is the month they come apart: 58 arc-minutes on 1 May, 5°32′ by the 31st. So the seventh house gets steadily more available as the month runs, and June is better than May.
Then it ends. Jupiter enters Leo and your eighth house at 4:48 am on 26 June 2027. Jupiter takes about twelve years to come round the zodiac, and it will not be exalted in your seventh house again in that time. If marriage, a formal partnership or a long contract is the live question, the window is now and it closes in seven weeks — and Venus, which the marriage calendar depends on, goes combust on 6 July 2027 and stays combust until 17 September, so the calendar closes behind Jupiter. See the May 2027 marriage muhurat page and our marriage delay remedies.
Your Ruler’s Last Full Month in Its Best House
Saturn rules Makara Rashi, and it has been in your third house. The third, sixth, tenth and eleventh are the upachaya houses — houses of growth — and Saturn is stronger in them than anywhere else; the third in particular rewards it, because the third is effort, courage, siblings, communication and the sheer capacity to keep going, all of which Saturn supplies. That is where your ruler has been, and May is its last full month there.
It ends the month at 29°47′ of Pisces, thirteen arc-minutes from the end of the zodiac, having crossed from the third pada of Revati into the fourth in the first days of May — which puts it inside the gandanta, the unstable junction of the last 3°20′ of Pisces and the first 3°20′ of Aries, for the whole month. At 0.11° a day that pada crossing is worth a day and not a minute, so we do not date it more finely than the first days of the month.
On 3 June it enters Aries and your fourth house. Saturn in the fourth from the Moon sign has a name — Kantaka Shani, the thorn — and it is one of the three positions classical texts single out for difficulty, because the fourth is home, mother, land, vehicles and the mind’s own rest. It does not arrive all at once: Saturn turns retrograde in Aries on 9 August 2027, returns to Pisces and your third house on 20 October 2027, and turns direct there on 24 December 2027. So the first taste of Kantaka Shani lasts about ten weeks, then lifts for two months, then settles in. Our Shani dosh page covers what to do about it.
The Longest Chandra Window of the Month
The Moon is on Makara Rashi from 4:52 am on Tuesday 25 May to 5:49 pm on Thursday 27 May — sixty hours and fifty-seven minutes, which is the longest single-sign window the Moon gives any rashi in May 2027. Gemini gets the shortest, 49 hours 54 minutes on the 9th to the 11th; Makara gets eleven hours more than that.
The reason is orbital, not symbolic. The Moon’s distance varies through the month and its speed varies with it, so a sign takes about fifty hours to cross when the Moon is near us and over sixty when it is far. In May 2027 the slow end of that cycle falls on 25–27 May, which is your window. Practically it means the usual advice for Chandra days — begin things, sign things, ask for things while the Moon is on your own sign — has two and a half days to work in rather than two.
The lunations fall elsewhere and both are useful. The New Moon forms at 4:28 pm on Thursday 6 May at 21°30′ of Aries, in the third pada of Bharani, in your fourth house — the house Saturn is about to occupy, which makes it a good moment to start the domestic work rather than the professional kind. The Full Moon comes at 4:29 pm on Thursday 20 May at 5°00′ of Scorpio, in the first pada of Anuradha, fourteen days and one minute later, and it falls in your eleventh house of gains, income and networks. A Full Moon in the eleventh is the friendliest place for one: money arriving, a group delivering, a favour returned.
The Sankranti, and Mercury’s Long Run
The Sun is exalted in Aries in your fourth house until 12:14 pm on Saturday 15 May, when Vrishabha Sankranti moves it into Taurus and your fifth house. It enters Krittika at 1:22 am on Wednesday 12 May and Rohini at 9:39 pm on Tuesday 25 May. An exalted Sun in the fourth house is bright and not restful — it heats the home — and the move to the fifth is a move towards children, study and enjoyment.
Mercury covers 50°11′ in May, more than any other body, and climbs three houses: Taurus and your fifth at 12:34 pm on Thursday 6 May, then Gemini — its own sign — and your sixth at 6:28 pm on Sunday 23 May. It begins the month combust, having been exact with the Sun at 2:51 am on 29 April; the separation reaches 14° around the 11th and nearly 23° by the 27th. Mercury in its own sign in the sixth house is good for work, competition and paperwork, so the last week is the week for all three — and Mercury turns retrograde on 10 June, which is the outer edge of that window.
Every Day of May Is Open
No closure falls anywhere in the month — no Kharmas, no Holashtak, no Chaturmas, no Adhika Maas, and neither Jupiter nor Venus combust. All 31 days are open, inside an unbroken run of 82 open days from 15 April to 5 July 2027, the longest in the two years our tables cover. The run ends when Venus goes combust on 6 July.
For Makara Rashi the calendar and the transits point the same way for once. An exalted Jupiter in the seventh house and an entirely open muhurat calendar is the right combination for a wedding, a partnership deed or a contract, and both end in June. See marriage, business and property, griha pravesh and vehicle purchase for May 2027 — and if the fourth house is the subject, do it before your ruler gets there.

Week by Week
Thirty-one days, Saturday to Monday, which gives five Saturdays, five Sundays and five Mondays and four of everything else. Saturn rules Makara Rashi, so your day is Saturday, and you get the maximum number of them: 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 May.
1–7 May
A week of well-placed planets and poor communication. Exalted Venus is in your third house all week and your ruler is beside it; Mercury is combust in your fourth at the start and reaches your fifth at 12:34 pm on Thursday the 6th, with the New Moon forming in your fourth house four hours later at 4:28 pm. Use the week for effort and not for documents: Mercury is too close to the Sun to be trusted with anything you sign.
8–14 May
Saturday the 8th opens with exalted Venus exact with your ruler at 12:18 am, at 27°08′ of Pisces, in your third house — a good minute for a sibling, a neighbour, a piece of writing or a difficult conversation you have been putting off. Venus moves to your fourth house at 8:45 am on Monday the 10th, losing exaltation. Mercury clears the Sun’s glare around the 11th, so the second half of the week is when paperwork becomes safe.
15–21 May
The Sankranti at 12:14 pm on Saturday the 15th moves the Sun out of your fourth house and into your fifth, and the Full Moon of Thursday the 20th at 4:29 pm fills your eleventh house of gains. That is the money week of the month, and the best week to ask a group for something — a committee, a client list, a network, a family fund. Rahu on your rashi argues for asking for what you are owed rather than for more than that.
22–28 May
Your week, and the strongest of the month. Mercury reaches its own sign in your sixth house at 6:28 pm on Sunday the 23rd and its widest separation from the Sun on the 27th at nearly 23°. The Moon arrives on Makara Rashi at 4:52 am on Tuesday the 25th and stays until 5:49 pm on Thursday the 27th — sixty-one hours, the longest window of the month. Saturday the 22nd and the days that follow are the right place for anything that needs both your ruler’s weekday and the Moon on your sign.
29–31 May
Three days, and a deadline behind them. Mercury enters Ardra at 10:20 pm on Saturday the 29th. The month closes on Monday the 31st with your ruler thirteen arc-minutes from the end of Pisces and three days from your fourth house. Anything to do with home, land, a vehicle or a parent is easier to begin in these three days than in the ten weeks that follow.
Career and Money for Makara Rashi
Your tenth house is Libra and it is empty all month; its lord Venus spends the month in your third and fourth houses, which means career moves through communication and through the home rather than through position — a message sent, a proposal written, work done from where you live. The seventh house is the professional story instead: an exalted Jupiter opposite you is a client, a partner or a counterparty behaving well, and it is at its most useful in the last ten days of May as Ketu falls away.
Money has a clear date on it. The Full Moon of Thursday 20 May falls in your eleventh house of income and gains, and the eleventh is where a Full Moon does the most good. Against that, Rahu on your rashi inflates appetite, and Mars spends the entire month in your eighth house — Leo, 1°12′ to 12°49′, never leaving Magha — which is the house of loans, debts and other people’s money, and Mars there argues against borrowing. Take what arrives on the 20th and do not leverage it. See our financial remedies page and career remedies.
Home, Family and Partnership
Partnership is the good news and it has a deadline. Exalted Jupiter holds your seventh house for all of May and leaves on 26 June; Ketu, which has been muffling it, is 58 arc-minutes away on the 1st and 5°32′ away by the 31st. If there is a marriage, a partnership or a contract to formalise, May and June are the two months, the calendar is fully open, and Venus goes combust on 6 July.
Home is the opposite: a house being handed a weight. The New Moon of the 6th forms in your fourth house, the exalted Sun heats it until the 15th, Venus passes through it from the 10th, and your ruler arrives on 3 June for the first stretch of Kantaka Shani. Do the fourth-house work now — the repair, the purchase, the conversation with a parent, the paperwork on land — because from June it becomes slower rather than impossible, and Saturn returns to that house retrograde in October.
Health
Makara Rashi governs the knees, the joints and the skeletal frame, and Saturn — your ruler and the significator of bone, teeth and chronic conditions — is in the third house and in a gandanta all month. The pairing argues for the unglamorous things: joints, posture, dental work, and anything long-standing that has been managed rather than treated.
Rahu on the rashi tends to show up as sleeplessness and a scattered mind rather than as illness, and it is the more likely complaint in May. Two windows help. Mercury in its own sign in your sixth house of health from 6:28 pm on 23 May is good for diagnosis and for actually going to the appointment; and your Chandra days, 4:52 am on 25 May to 5:49 pm on 27 May, sixty-one hours of them, are the best time of the month to begin a regimen and have it stick.
Remedies for Makara Rashi in May 2027
Four conditions, in order of weight: Rahu on your rashi in Shravana for all thirty-one days; your ruler’s last full month in the third house, inside the gandanta; exalted Jupiter in your seventh house separating from Ketu with a June deadline; and Kantaka Shani beginning on 3 June.
- Saturday observance for Shani — 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 May: five Saturdays, your ruler’s day, in its last full month in a house that suits it, and the 8th carries the exact Venus contact in its first hour. Sesame oil, black til, a peepal lamp after sundown, and something given rather than promised. See the Shani remedies page and Saturday fasting.
- Rahu observance through the month: the node holds your rashi for every day of May without moving nakshatra. Durga worship, mustard oil given away, and the discipline of not adding — no new loan, no new obligation, nothing signed out of appetite. See Rahu remedies.
- Guru worship on the Thursdays — 6, 13, 20 and 27 May: your seventh house holds an exalted Jupiter that leaves on 26 June. Turmeric, chana dal, yellow cloth, and something done for a teacher or an elder. This is the remedy with a deadline. See weak-Jupiter remedies and Thursday fasting.
- Shukra observance on Friday 7 May above all: the one Friday that catches Venus exalted in your third house, on the eve of its meeting with your ruler. White cloth, rice, ghee. Continue on 14, 21 and 28 May — see Shukra remedies and Friday fasting.
- Do the fourth-house thing before 3 June: the practical remedy, and the most useful line on this page. Home, land, vehicle, mother, and the paperwork attached to any of them, are all easier while your ruler is still in the third house.
- Hanuman worship on the Tuesdays — 4, 11, 18 and 25 May: Mars sits in your eighth house in Magha all month, which is the argument against borrowing and the reason for sudden irritation. Red flowers, sindoor, Hanuman Chalisa after sunset. See Mangal remedies and Tuesday fasting.
- Ketu observance while it sits opposite you: Ketu holds your seventh house all month in Ashlesha, from 22°16′ to 20°37′, which reads as a partner who is present and absent at once. Feeding a dog, a blanket given away, Ganesha before anything begun. See Ketu remedies.
- Use the 25th to the 27th: sixty-one hours of Moon on your own sign, the longest such window the month gives anyone. Begin the thing you have been deferring inside it rather than around it.
In Summary
For Makara Rashi, May 2027 is a month with two expiry dates on it. Rahu is on your rashi for all thirty-one days, moving from 22°16′ to 20°37′ of Capricorn without leaving the fourth pada of Shravana — the least eventful transit in the sky, sitting in the most personal place in your chart, inflating appetite and supplying no ground.
Against it, two good positions with dates attached. Exalted Jupiter holds your seventh house and pulls clear of Ketu across the month, 58 arc-minutes apart on the 1st and 5°32′ by the 31st, then leaves on 26 June 2027 and is not exalted there again for about twelve years. And your ruler spends its last full month in your third house, ending May at 29°47′ of Pisces — thirteen arc-minutes from the end of the zodiac, inside the gandanta — before entering your fourth on 3 June 2027 and beginning Kantaka Shani.
The Full Moon of the 20th falls in your eleventh house of gains, your Chandra days run sixty hours and fifty-seven minutes from 4:52 am on 25 May to 5:49 pm on 27 May — the longest window the Moon gives any sign this month — and every day of May is open, inside the longest open run in the two years our tables hold. All of it is sign-level: which of the nine Capricorn padas holds your natal Moon, where your natal Saturn sits, and which dasha is running decide how much of this lands. For more, read April’s reading, what Makara Rashi settles and what the pada decides, and our Rahu–Ketu remedies page.
Two deadlines in June, and Rahu on your rashi now
An exalted Jupiter in your seventh house until 26 June and Kantaka Shani from 3 June is a combination worth reading against your own chart — your natal Saturn, your dasha and your Moon’s pada decide which one dominates.
