The Jupiter Mahadasha for Aries Ascendant
16 years · Jupiter rules the 9th and 12th
The Parashari way to read a mahadasha for a given ascendant starts with the houses its lord holds. For Aries ascendant Jupiter rules the 9th (Sagittarius) and the 12th (Pisces), so for Aries the 16-year Jupiter mahadasha carries both a trikona house and a dusthana house.
Counted from Aries, Jupiter is exalted in the 4th (Cancer) and debilitated in the 10th (Capricorn). Mars, Aries’s lagna lord, and Jupiter count each other a friend. Jupiter’s own nakshatras fall in Punarvasu (the 3rd and 4th), Vishakha (the 7th and 8th) and Purva Bhadrapada (the 11th and 12th) for Aries ascendant, which is where a birth that opens in the Jupiter mahadasha has its Moon.

For Aries ascendant, three of the Jupiter mahadasha’s sub-periods belong to lords of a dusthana (the 6th, 8th or 12th): Jupiter–Jupiter, Jupiter–Mercury and Jupiter–Mars, and two to lords of a trikona other than the 1st: Jupiter–Jupiter and Jupiter–Sun. The sub-period of Mars, Aries’s lagna lord, is Jupiter–Mars, the eighth of nine, 11 months 6 days long. Counted in time, sub-periods whose lords hold a dusthana for Aries take 5 years 4 months (33%) of the Jupiter mahadasha’s 16 years, and those whose lords hold a trikona other than the 1st take 2 years 11 months 6 days (18%); a lord holding both is counted in both. In the Jupiter mahadasha for Aries, the Rahu and Ketu sub-periods are read through their dispositors in the chart, since neither node rules a house.
For an Aries-rising chart this is the frame of the Jupiter mahadasha, not a forecast: where Jupiter and each sub-period lord actually sit, and their dignity there, decide what it comes to, and this page cannot know either.
