The 8th Lord for Aries Ascendant: Mars
8th house = Scorpio · lord Mars · also lord of the 1st
With Aries rising, the 8th house is Scorpio, the 8th sign counted from Aries, and Scorpio is ruled by Mars. So for Aries ascendant the 8th lord is Mars, which also rules the 1st through Aries: one graha holds the 8th and the 1st together for this ascendant. The 8th is a dusthana, and the 1st a kendra and a trikona.
Mars is also the lagna lord of Aries ascendant, so the 8th and the 1st share one ruler. The 8th’s matters are sudden change, occult and research and inheritance; with Aries rising they sit in Scorpio, a fixed water sign that is also the 8th of the natural zodiac.
Scorpio as the 8th House of Aries Ascendant
Scorpio exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 8th for Aries ascendant; it debilitates the Moon at 3°, so the Moon is debilitated in the 8th. The house holds Vishakha (pada 4), Anuradha (all four padas) and Jyeshtha (all four padas), whose lords are Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury; Mars rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 2nd holds Taurus, ruled by Venus.
