The 8th Lord in the 7th House

The 8th lord in the 7th house is the ruler of the 8th, the Ayur / Mrityu Bhava, placed in the 7th, the Kalatra Bhava. The 8th is a dusthana and the 7th a kendra. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 8th, the 7th is the 12th house, which from any house is a dusthana position; counted back from the 7th, the 8th is the 2nd.

Where the 7th lord sits in the 8th in the same chart as the 8th lord in the 7th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for eleven ascendants. For Cancer (Saturn) one graha rules both the 8th and the 7th, so there is nothing to exchange.
