The 8th Lord in the 1st House

The 8th lord in the 1st house is the ruler of the 8th, the Ayur / Mrityu Bhava, placed in the 1st, the Lagna / Tanu Bhava. The 8th is a dusthana and the 1st a kendra and a trikona. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 8th, the 1st is the 6th house, which from any house is a dusthana and an upachaya position; counted back from the 1st, the 8th is the 8th, a dusthana position from it.

Where the 1st lord sits in the 8th in the same chart as the 8th lord in the 1st, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants.
