The 8th Lord in the 5th House

The 8th lord in the 5th house is the ruler of the 8th, the Ayur / Mrityu Bhava, placed in the 5th, the Putra Bhava. The 8th is a dusthana and the 5th a trikona. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 8th, the 5th is the 10th house, which from any house is a kendra and an upachaya position; counted back from the 5th, the 8th is the 4th, a kendra position from it.

Where the 5th lord sits in the 8th in the same chart as the 8th lord in the 5th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Leo (Jupiter) and Aquarius (Mercury) one graha rules both the 8th and the 5th, so there is nothing to exchange.
