The 12th Lord for Aries Ascendant: Jupiter
12th house = Pisces · lord Jupiter · also lord of the 9th
With Aries rising, the 12th house is Pisces, the 12th sign counted from Aries, and Pisces is ruled by Jupiter. So for Aries ascendant the 12th lord is Jupiter, which also rules the 9th through Sagittarius: one graha holds the 12th and the 9th together for this ascendant. The 12th is a dusthana, and the 9th a trikona.
The lagna lord, Mars, and the 12th lord, Jupiter, count each other a friend for Aries ascendant. The 12th’s matters are expenses and losses, foreign residence, spiritual liberation and subconscious mind; with Aries rising they sit in Pisces, a dual water sign that is also the 12th of the natural zodiac.
Pisces as the 12th House of Aries Ascendant
Pisces exalts Venus, deepest at 27°, so for Aries ascendant Venus is exalted in the 12th; it debilitates Mercury at 15°, so Mercury is debilitated in the 12th. The house holds Purva Bhadrapada (pada 4), Uttara Bhadrapada (all four padas) and Revati (all four padas), whose lords are Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury; Jupiter rules one of them, Purva Bhadrapada, so for Aries ascendant the 12th lord also owns a nakshatra inside the 12th. Opposite, across the chart, the 6th holds Virgo, ruled by Mercury.
