The 12th Lord in the 5th House

The 12th lord in the 5th house is the ruler of the 12th, the Vyaya / Moksha Bhava, placed in the 5th, the Putra Bhava. The 12th is a dusthana and the 5th a trikona. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 12th, the 5th is the 6th house, which from any house is a dusthana and an upachaya position; counted back from the 5th, the 12th is the 8th, a dusthana position from it.

Where the 5th lord sits in the 12th in the same chart as the 12th lord in the 5th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Gemini (Venus) and Sagittarius (Mars) one graha rules both the 12th and the 5th, so there is nothing to exchange.
