The 12th Lord in the 11th House

The 12th lord in the 11th house is the ruler of the 12th, the Vyaya / Moksha Bhava, placed in the 11th, the Labha Bhava. The 12th is a dusthana and the 11th an upachaya. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 12th, the 11th is the 12th house, which from any house is a dusthana position; counted back from the 11th, the 12th is the 2nd.

On the Parashari reading, in which a lord carries its house’s matters to wherever it sits, the 12th lord in the 11th reads the 12th’s matters — expenses and losses, foreign residence, spiritual liberation, and subconscious mind — through the 11th’s: income and gains, friends and networks, aspirations, and elder siblings. For the 12th lord in the 11th that is a frame, not a forecast; what it comes to depends on the graha, its dignity below, and the rest of the chart.

The 12th Lord in the 11th, Ascendant by Ascendant

Across the twelve ascendants the 12th lord in the 11th is in its own sign for Pisces, in a friend's sign for Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra and Capricorn, in a neutral sign for Aries, Gemini, Sagittarius and Aquarius and debilitated for Scorpio. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Leo and Virgo, where one of them is the 12th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 12th lord brings with it to the 11th.

For Pisces ascendant the 12th lord, Saturn, also rules the 11th, so in the 11th it sits in its own other sign, Capricorn.

The Reverse: the 11th Lord in the 12th

Where the 11th lord sits in the 12th in the same chart as the 12th lord in the 11th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for eleven ascendants. For Pisces (Saturn) one graha rules both the 12th and the 11th, so there is nothing to exchange.
