The 6th Lord for Cancer Ascendant: Jupiter
6th house = Sagittarius · lord Jupiter · also lord of the 9th
With Cancer rising, the 6th house is Sagittarius, the 6th sign counted from Cancer, and Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. So for Cancer ascendant the 6th lord is Jupiter, which also rules the 9th through Pisces: one graha holds the 6th and the 9th together for this ascendant. The 6th is a dusthana and an upachaya, and the 9th a trikona.
The lagna lord, the Moon, counts Jupiter neutral, while Jupiter counts the Moon a friend: for Cancer ascendant the 1st and 6th lords do not see each other the same way. The 6th’s matters are debts and loans, service and routine and enemies; with Cancer rising they sit in Sagittarius, a dual fire sign that is the 9th of the natural zodiac.
Sagittarius as the 6th House of Cancer Ascendant
Sagittarius exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 6th for Cancer ascendant, and it debilitates none. The house holds Mula (all four padas), Purva Ashadha (all four padas) and Uttara Ashadha (pada 1), whose lords are Ketu, Venus and the Sun; Jupiter rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 12th holds Gemini, ruled by Mercury.
