The 2nd Lord for Cancer Ascendant: Sun
2nd house = Leo · lord Sun
With Cancer rising, the 2nd house is Leo, the 2nd sign counted from Cancer, and Leo is ruled by the Sun. So for Cancer ascendant the 2nd lord is the Sun, which rules no other sign, so for Cancer ascendant it holds the 2nd alone. The 2nd is classed maraka (with the 7th) and panapara (succedent).
The lagna lord, the Moon, and the 2nd lord, the Sun, count each other a friend for Cancer ascendant. The 2nd’s matters are savings and wealth, family of origin, speech and voice and values; with Cancer rising they sit in Leo, a fixed fire sign that is the 5th of the natural zodiac.
Leo as the 2nd House of Cancer Ascendant
Leo exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 2nd for Cancer ascendant, and it debilitates none. The house holds Magha (all four padas), Purva Phalguni (all four padas) and Uttara Phalguni (pada 1), whose lords are Ketu, Venus and the Sun; the Sun rules one of them, Uttara Phalguni, so for Cancer ascendant the 2nd lord also owns a nakshatra inside the 2nd. Opposite, across the chart, the 8th holds Aquarius, ruled by Saturn.
