The 9th Lord for Cancer Ascendant: Jupiter
9th house = Pisces · lord Jupiter · also lord of the 6th
With Cancer rising, the 9th house is Pisces, the 9th sign counted from Cancer, and Pisces is ruled by Jupiter. So for Cancer ascendant the 9th lord is Jupiter, which also rules the 6th through Sagittarius: one graha holds the 9th and the 6th together for this ascendant. The 9th is a trikona, and the 6th a dusthana and an upachaya.
The lagna lord, the Moon, counts Jupiter neutral, while Jupiter counts the Moon a friend: for Cancer ascendant the 1st and 9th lords do not see each other the same way. The 9th’s matters are luck and fortune, father's influence, higher learning and pilgrimage; with Cancer rising they sit in Pisces, a dual water sign that is the 12th of the natural zodiac.
Pisces as the 9th House of Cancer Ascendant
Pisces exalts Venus, deepest at 27°, so for Cancer ascendant Venus is exalted in the 9th; it debilitates Mercury at 15°, so Mercury is debilitated in the 9th. The house holds Purva Bhadrapada (pada 4), Uttara Bhadrapada (all four padas) and Revati (all four padas), whose lords are Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury; Jupiter rules one of them, Purva Bhadrapada, so for Cancer ascendant the 9th lord also owns a nakshatra inside the 9th. Opposite, across the chart, the 3rd holds Virgo, ruled by Mercury.
Where Jupiter Is Strong and Weak, as Houses of Cancer Ascendant
Counted from Cancer, Jupiter is exalted in the 1st, debilitated in the 7th, and in its own sign in the 6th and the 9th. Exaltation and debilitation are always six signs apart, so for Cancer ascendant the 9th lord’s best and worst houses face each other across the chart.

Jupiter Through the 9th and Its Exaltation House, 2026–2028
