bhava lord in bhava
The 9th Lord in the 9th House
Bhagya / Dharma Bhava lord in its own bhava · its own house · twelve ascendants computed
The 9th lord in the 9th house is the ruler of the 9th sitting in its own bhava. The 9th is the Bhagya / Dharma Bhava (Bhagya means fortune — luck that is not earned), a trikona. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.
On the Parashari reading, in which a lord carries its house’s matters to wherever it sits, the 9th lord in the 9th keeps the 9th’s matters — luck and fortune, father's influence, higher learning, and pilgrimage — under their own lord. For the 9th lord in the 9th that is a frame, not a forecast; what it comes to depends on the graha, its dignity below, and the rest of the chart.

Across the twelve ascendants the 9th lord in the 9th is exalted for Capricorn and in its own sign for Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Pisces. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Scorpio and Sagittarius, where one of them is the 9th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 9th lord also holds.
For Taurus ascendant (Saturn, ruling the 9th and 10th), Leo ascendant (Mars, ruling the 4th and 9th) and Aquarius ascendant (Venus, ruling the 4th and 9th), the 9th lord rules both a kendra and a trikona other than the 1st, and in the 9th it is in its own sign for all three.
