The 2nd Lord in the 11th House

The 2nd lord in the 11th house is the ruler of the 2nd, the Dhana Bhava, placed in the 11th, the Labha Bhava. The 2nd is in none of the four classes and the 11th an upachaya. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 2nd, the 11th is the 10th house, which from any house is a kendra and an upachaya position; counted back from the 11th, the 2nd is the 4th, a kendra position from it.

The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Gemini and Cancer, where one of them is the 2nd lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 2nd lord brings with it to the 11th.

For Leo ascendant the 2nd lord, Mercury, also rules the 11th, so in the 11th it sits in its own other sign, Gemini. For Aquarius ascendant the 2nd lord, Jupiter, also rules the 11th, so in the 11th it sits in its own other sign, Sagittarius.

The Reverse: the 11th Lord in the 2nd

Where the 11th lord sits in the 2nd in the same chart as the 2nd lord in the 11th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Leo (Mercury) and Aquarius (Jupiter) one graha rules both the 2nd and the 11th, so there is nothing to exchange.
