Sagittarius Rashifal August 2027 (Dhanu Rashi): Your Ruler Sits in the House of Dharma All Month, and Goes Invisible There on the 16th
Published 2026-08-22 | Live Pandit Ji
Jupiter rules Dhanu Rashi, and Jupiter is the natural significator of dharma. For all thirty-one days of August 2027 it sits in Leo — your ninth house, which is the house of dharma. The lord of your chart, standing in the house it signifies, for a full month.
And from 16 August it is invisible there. Guru asta — Jupiter’s combustion — runs from the 16th to 15 September, thirty days, because the Sun closes to within the combustion orb as it comes into Leo. So the best transit your ruler can take is in force for the whole month and unseen for the second half of it.
Meanwhile the first fortnight belongs to your eighth house. August 2027 has eight exact conjunctions — July 2027 had one — and six of the eight happen in Cancer, your eighth house, between the 4th and the 12th, with Ketu sitting there for all thirty-one days. The first New Moon of the month forms in the same house at 3:35 pm on Monday 2 August.
Guru in the Ninth, and Then Guru Invisible in the Ninth
Jupiter moves from 6°54′ to 13°33′ of Leo across the month, crossing out of Magha and into Purva Phalguni in the last hours of August — six and a half degrees, the slowest of the visible planets after Saturn. Guru in the ninth is the transit classically associated with teachers, pilgrimage, higher study, a father’s support and plain good fortune of the unearned kind. That it is your own ruler makes it stronger, not weaker.
It is met twice there. Mercury is exact with Jupiter at 4:16 am on Friday 20 August at 10°59′ of Leo, in Magha pada 4. Venus is exact with Jupiter at 8:29 am on Thursday 26 August at 12°19′. Guru–Budh in the ninth is the conjunction for teaching, writing and formal study; Guru–Shukra in the ninth is the conjunction for a teacher who is also a friend. Both are genuinely good placements, and both occur with Jupiter combust — the second with both bodies combust, since Venus is invisible for the entire month.
What combustion actually costs is externalisation. The placement still works internally: study, understanding, the private conviction that something is right. What it does not do is announce itself — the recognition, the certificate, the public form of the thing waits until Jupiter emerges after 15 September. Read August as the month you learn, and September as the month it counts.
The calendar is not generous either. Jupiter rules Thursday, and August 2027 has only four — the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, the fewest weekday count of the month, and your ruler is combust on the last two. See our Guru remedies and Thursday fasting pages.
Six Exact Conjunctions in Your Eighth House
Cancer holds the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Ketu through the first fortnight. The Sun is exact with Ketu at 6:07 am on Wednesday 4 August at 17°13′, in Ashlesha pada 1. Venus is exact with Ketu at 11:15 pm on Thursday 5 August at 17°07′. Mercury is exact with Ketu at 3:16 am on Sunday 8 August at 17°01′. Then the three meet each other: Mercury with Venus at 11:59 am on Wednesday 11 August at 23°57′, the Sun with Mercury at 4:32 pm the same day, and the Sun with Venus at 5:50 am on Thursday 12 August at 24°52′ — the deepest point of the seventy-three-day Shukra asta.
The eighth house governs what you did not initiate: inheritance, joint accounts, tax, insurance, surgery, and matters that surface without notice. Six exact conjunctions there in nine days is a lot of activity in a house nobody enjoys. Ketu present throughout gives it a particular flavour — the classical reading of Ketu in the eighth is research, occult interest and sudden insight rather than misfortune, and three planets crossing it sharpens that.
Practically: the first fortnight is when eighth-house paperwork asks for attention. A nomination form, a tax notice, a joint account that was never formally settled, a medical follow-up. Deal with the category deliberately in the first two weeks and the month is administrative rather than difficult. The New Moon of the 2nd in that house is a reasonable point to begin the clean-up.
The Second-Longest Chandra Window of the Month
The Moon is on Dhanu Rashi from 11:33 am on Thursday 12 August to 12:06 am on Sunday 15 August — sixty hours thirty-three minutes. Only Capricorn gets a longer stay in August 2027, and by only twenty-five minutes. The Moon is near apogee and moving at its slowest, so the sign it happens to be in gets an unusually long occupancy, and this month that is largely yours.
Three things fall inside it. Mars enters Chitra thirty-two hours fifty minutes after it opens. Mercury leaves your eighth house for your ninth forty-eight hours seventeen minutes in. And Ketu reverses back into Pushya on 14 August, inside the same window — we give that as a day and not a minute, because at 0.053 degrees a day a printed time would be false precision, and Ketu is the slowest-moving thing in the chart.
Sixty and a half hours with the Moon on your own sign is the month’s best stretch for anything that needs your own judgement rather than someone else’s agreement. It sits immediately after the eighth-house conjunctions finish and immediately before the ninth house fills, which makes it a natural pivot: close the first fortnight’s business inside that window.
The Ninth House Fills, and Takes a New Moon
Mercury joins Jupiter in your ninth house at 11:50 am on Saturday 14 August, Venus at 9:29 am on Monday 16 August, and the Sun in its own sign at 2:07 pm on Tuesday 17 August — Simha Sankranti. Four planets in the house of dharma from that afternoon, one of them your ruler and one of them in its own sign.
Then the second New Moon of the month forms there at 11:11 pm on Tuesday 31 August, at 13°54′ of Leo, in Purva Phalguni pada 1 — within a degree of Jupiter’s position, in the same house and the same nakshatra as your ruler. Two New Moons in one calendar month is uncommon; for Dhanu they fall in your eighth and ninth houses, which is a fair description of the month’s whole arc: what was hidden in the first half, and what is understood in the second.
Use the 31st. A lunation in your ninth house, alongside your own ruler, is the correct date to begin a course of study, commit to a teacher, or plan a pilgrimage — not the 2nd, when the lunation is in your eighth.
Saturn Retrograde in Your Fifth, and the Full Moon in Your Second
Saturn is debilitated in Aries in your fifth house for all thirty-one days and turns retrograde at 11:04 pm on Monday 9 August, covering only 3°34′ to 3°13′ of Ashwini in the entire month. We publish the station to the minute and Saturn’s position only as a sign: a station is intrinsic to the geometry of the Earth and the planet and does not shift with the ayanamsa, while a crossing at 0.035 degrees a day does.
The fifth is children, learning, creative work and the results of past merit. A debilitated retrograde Saturn there reads as delay and re-work rather than denial: a child’s admission that stalls, a creative project returned for revision, a course that has to be repeated. It is the one department of August that will not respond to pressure. See our Shani remedies and Shani dosh page.
The Full Moon of 12:58 pm on Tuesday 17 August forms at the very end of Capricorn, in the closing minutes of Dhanishta pada 2 — your second house of income, speech and family wealth, where Rahu also sits all month, standing at roughly 16°30′ that day. The lunation is therefore about thirteen and a half degrees from Rahu: the same house, not a conjunction. The Moon leaves Capricorn at 1:04 pm, six minutes later, and Simha Sankranti follows at 2:07 pm — three events in sixty-nine minutes. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August, and the Purnima tithi it needs ends at the Full Moon itself.
The Month’s Fixed Points
- Sunday 1 August, 11:21 am — Mercury enters Pushya in your eighth house.
- Monday 2 August, 3:35 pm — the first New Moon forms in your eighth house at 15°42′ of Cancer, in Pushya pada 4. That day’s panchang.
- Tuesday 3 August, 4:26 pm — the Sun enters Ashlesha.
- Wednesday 4 August, 6:07 am — the Sun is exact with Ketu at 17°13′ in your eighth house. Hariyali Teej falls on Wednesday 4 August.
- Thursday 5 August, 2:24 pm — Venus enters Ashlesha, and is exact with Ketu at 11:15 pm. The first of only four Thursdays.
- Friday 6 August — Nag Panchami.
- Sunday 8 August, 3:16 am — Mercury is exact with Ketu at 17°01′ in your eighth house.
- Monday 9 August, 11:04 pm — Saturn turns retrograde in your fifth house, debilitated. Panchang for the day.
- Wednesday 11 August, 11:59 am and 4:32 pm — Mercury exact with Venus at 23°57′, then the Sun exact with Mercury at 24°20′, both in your eighth house.
- Thursday 12 August, 5:50 am — the Sun is exact with Venus at 24°52′: the deepest point of Shukra asta. The Moon arrives on Dhanu Rashi at 11:33 am for sixty hours thirty-three minutes.
- Friday 13 August, 8:23 pm — Mars enters Chitra in your tenth house, thirty-two hours fifty minutes into your Chandra window.
- Saturday 14 August, 11:50 am — Mercury leaves your eighth house for your ninth and enters Magha, forty-eight hours seventeen minutes into your window. Ketu reverses into Pushya the same day, which we give as a day and not a minute.
- Sunday 15 August, 12:06 am — the Moon leaves Sagittarius.
- Monday 16 August, 9:29 am — Venus moves into your ninth house and enters Magha, combust. Guru asta begins: your own ruler is combust in your ninth house to 15 September.
- Tuesday 17 August, 12:58 pm — the Full Moon forms in your second house at the end of Capricorn, in Dhanishta pada 2, about thirteen and a half degrees from Rahu. The Moon leaves Capricorn at 1:04 pm.
- Tuesday 17 August, 2:07 pm — Simha Sankranti: the Sun enters Leo, its own sign, and your ninth house, which now holds four planets. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August. Panchang for the day.
- Friday 20 August, 4:16 am — Mercury is exact with Jupiter at 10°59′ of Leo, in your ninth house, with Jupiter combust.
- Saturday 21 August, 10:40 am — Mercury enters Purva Phalguni in your ninth house.
- Tuesday 24 August, 9:42 am — Mars leaves your tenth house for your eleventh, without leaving Chitra. Krishna Janmashtami falls on Tuesday 24 August.
- Thursday 26 August, 8:29 am — Venus is exact with Jupiter at 12°19′ of Leo in your ninth house, with both combust. The last of four Thursdays.
- Friday 27 August, 4:03 am — Venus enters Purva Phalguni.
- Sunday 29 August, 1:19 am — Mercury enters Uttara Phalguni, leaving Jupiter’s nakshatra behind.
- Tuesday 31 August, 1:57 am — Mercury enters Virgo, exalted, in your tenth house. The Sun enters Purva Phalguni at 10:05 am, Jupiter reaches the same nakshatra in the last hours of the month, and the second New Moon forms in your ninth house at 11:11 pm, within a degree of your ruler. Panchang for the day.
Week by Week
Thirty-one days running Sunday to Tuesday. Five Sundays, five Mondays and five Tuesdays; only four each of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Jupiter rules Thursday, so your own weekday is one of the four short ones, and your ruler is combust on two of them.
1–7 August
An eighth-house week: paperwork, hidden matters, and things that arrive without warning. The first New Moon forms there at 3:35 pm on Monday the 2nd, the Sun crosses Ketu at 6:07 am on Wednesday the 4th, and Venus crosses the same point at 11:15 pm on Thursday the 5th. Hariyali Teej falls on Wednesday 4 August. Nag Panchami falls on Friday 6 August. Open the files you have been avoiding; nothing here needs to be dramatic if it is handled early.
8–14 August
The pivot. Mercury crosses Ketu in your eighth at 3:16 am on Sunday the 8th, Saturn turns retrograde in your fifth at 11:04 pm on Monday the 9th, and Wednesday the 11th carries two exact conjunctions five hours apart. Thursday the 12th brings the deepest at 5:50 am, and then the Moon arrives on Dhanu Rashi at 11:33 am for sixty and a half hours. Mars enters Chitra at 8:23 pm on Friday the 13th and Mercury crosses into your ninth house at 11:50 am on Saturday the 14th, both inside your window. The second half of this week is the best part of the month.
15–21 August
The ninth house fills and your ruler goes dark. The Moon leaves your sign at 12:06 am on Sunday the 15th; Venus crosses into your ninth at 9:29 am on Monday the 16th, and Guru asta begins the same day. Tuesday the 17th holds three events inside sixty-nine minutes: the Full Moon in your second house at 12:58 pm, the Moon out of Capricorn at 1:04 pm, and Simha Sankranti at 2:07 pm, which brings the Sun in its own sign into your house of dharma and makes four planets there. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August. Mercury is exact with Jupiter in the ninth at 4:16 am on Friday the 20th.
22–28 August
A steady, study-shaped week. Mars leaves your tenth house for your eleventh at 9:42 am on Tuesday the 24th, which is Krishna Janmashtami — a malefic moving into an upachaya house, where it works for you rather than against you. Venus is exact with Jupiter in your ninth at 8:29 am on Thursday the 26th, both combust, and enters Purva Phalguni at 4:03 am on Friday the 27th. Nothing announces itself this week; a good deal is understood.
29–31 August
The month’s proper beginning, at the end. Mercury enters Uttara Phalguni at 1:19 am on Sunday the 29th and reaches Virgo, exalted, in your tenth house at 1:57 am on Tuesday the 31st. The Sun enters Purva Phalguni at 10:05 am, Jupiter reaches Purva Phalguni in the last hours of the month, and the second New Moon forms in your ninth house at 11:11 pm, within a degree of your ruler and in the same nakshatra. If you are going to commit to a teacher, a course or a journey this year, commit on that night.
Career and Money for Dhanu Rashi
Your tenth house of career is Virgo, and Mars holds it for the first twenty-three days before leaving at 9:42 am on 24 August. Mars in the tenth is effective and abrasive in equal measure: work gets done and people get pushed. Then Mercury, which owns that house, arrives in it exalted at 1:57 am on 31 August — the lord of your career house in its own sign at maximum dignity, in your career house, on the last day of the month. That is a forward signal for September rather than a result in August.
Money is the month’s soft spot. Your second house of income takes the Full Moon on the 17th with Rahu present all month, which tends to mean income that is visible but not stable, and your eighth house — joint finances, tax, borrowings — carries six exact conjunctions in the first fortnight. Neither is loss. Both are volatility. Keep the eighth-house paperwork current and do not borrow between the 4th and the 12th. See our financial remedies page.
One clean opportunity: Mars enters your eleventh house of gains on the 24th and stays past month’s end. The eleventh is an upachaya house where a malefic produces gains through effort. The last week of August is when income responds to work rather than to circumstance.
Home, Family and Partnership
Your seventh house is Gemini, empty all month, ruled by a Mercury that spends August travelling from your eighth house to your tenth. An empty seventh with a mobile lord is a month in which the partnership takes whatever shape your other commitments leave for it. If there is friction it will be about time rather than affection.
The wedding calendar is closed on three independent grounds, and for Dhanu the third one is personal: Chaturmas runs across all thirty-one days, Venus is combust from 6 July to 17 September, and Jupiter — your own ruler, and the graha whose visibility a marriage muhurat requires — is combust from the 16th to 15 September. The marriage muhurat page for August 2027 sets out the arithmetic. Nothing qualifies, and for a Dhanu chart the reason is doubly binding.
Home is quiet. Your fourth house is Pisces, empty, ruled by Jupiter — which is well placed in the ninth but invisible from the 16th, so household matters progress slowly and without announcement. The fifth house is the one to watch, with Saturn debilitated and retrograde there: children’s admissions, examinations and creative deadlines will all take longer than promised. The child samskaras page for August 2027 and the upanayan page explain why the ceremonies wait.
Health
The eighth house is the health signal, and the honest reading is diagnostic rather than alarming: six exact conjunctions in the house of surgery and chronic conditions, in nine days, means a deferred test or follow-up is likely to ask for attention between the 4th and the 12th. Attend to it then. The eighth house rewards being met early and punishes being ignored.
Your Chandra window is unusually generous: 11:33 am on 12 August to 12:06 am on 15 August, sixty hours thirty-three minutes, the second-longest of any sign this month. Brahma muhurta on the 13th and the 14th, with the Moon on Dhanu, are the two strongest mornings of August for you. Mars in your tenth house until the 24th tends to show up as strain from overwork rather than illness; the hips and thighs are the classical Dhanu weak points, and Saturn in your fifth adds to lower-back stiffness.
Remedies for Dhanu Rashi in August 2027
Four conditions define the month: Jupiter, your ruler, in your ninth house of dharma for all thirty-one days and combust there from the 16th; six of the month’s eight exact conjunctions in your eighth house between the 4th and the 12th, with Ketu there; a debilitated Saturn turning retrograde in your fifth house on the 9th; and a lunation forming in your ninth house on the 31st within a degree of your ruler.
- Guru practice on the four Thursdays — 5, 12, 19 and 26 August: your ruler is in the best house it can occupy and invisible for half the month, so this is the month’s central observance. Chana dal, turmeric, yellow cloth, and something given to a teacher. See Guru remedies and Thursday fasting.
- Clear one eighth-house document between the 2nd and the 12th: a nomination, a tax filing, an insurance renewal, a deferred medical test. Six exact conjunctions in that house is an invitation to finish exactly one such thing.
- Ketu practice for the eighth house: Ketu holds it all month and three planets cross it exactly. Something given away regularly, and time spent in study rather than in company. See our Ketu remedies and the Rahu–Ketu page.
- Shani observance on the Saturdays — 7, 14, 21 and 28 August: Saturn is debilitated and retrograde in your fifth house of children and learning, the one department that will not respond to pressure. Sesame oil, black til, mustard oil to a peepal after sundown. See Shani remedies and Saturday fasting.
- Use the window from the 12th to the 15th: sixty hours thirty-three minutes with the Moon on your own sign, and it sits exactly between the eighth-house conjunctions and the ninth house filling. Decide things then.
- Do not borrow between the 4th and the 12th: the eighth house governs debt taken on rather than debt given, and it is unusually busy in that stretch.
- Make the 31st the commitment date: a New Moon in your ninth house, in the same nakshatra as your ruler and within a degree of it, is the year’s correct moment to commit to a teacher, a course or a pilgrimage.
In Summary
For Dhanu Rashi, August 2027 is a month in which the best thing that is happening cannot be seen. Jupiter — your ruler, and the natural significator of dharma — spends all thirty-one days in your ninth house, the house of dharma, and goes combust there from 16 August to 15 September. It is met twice in that house, by Mercury at 4:16 am on 20 August and by Venus at 8:29 am on 26 August, both times while combust. What you learn in August becomes visible in September.
The first fortnight belongs to your eighth house, where six of the month’s eight exact conjunctions occur between the 4th and the 12th with Ketu present throughout, and where the first New Moon forms at 3:35 pm on 2 August. Handle the paperwork category early and the fortnight is administrative rather than difficult. Then the Moon gives you sixty hours thirty-three minutes on your own sign from 11:33 am on 12 August — the second-longest window of the month — sitting precisely between the eighth-house conjunctions and the ninth house filling.
The month closes better than it opens. From Simha Sankranti at 2:07 pm on 17 August your ninth house holds four planets, and the second New Moon forms there at 11:11 pm on 31 August at 13°54′ of Leo, within a degree of Jupiter and in the same nakshatra. Against that: a debilitated Saturn retrograde in your fifth from 11:04 pm on 9 August, and the Full Moon of 12:58 pm on 17 August in your second house of income, about thirteen and a half degrees from Rahu. All of it is sign-level. Which of the nine Sagittarius padas holds your natal Moon, where Jupiter sits in your own chart, and which dasha is running decide how much of it lands. For more, read July’s reading, what Dhanu Rashi settles and what the pada decides, and our Guru remedies page.
Your ruler in the house of dharma, and invisible in it
Whether a combust Jupiter in the ninth reads as private understanding or as public delay depends on which of your padas holds the natal Moon and where Jupiter sits in your own chart — a sign-level reading cannot settle that.
