The 3rd Lord for Libra Ascendant: Jupiter
3rd house = Sagittarius · lord Jupiter · also lord of the 6th
With Libra rising, the 3rd house is Sagittarius, the 3rd sign counted from Libra, and Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. So for Libra ascendant the 3rd lord is Jupiter, which also rules the 6th through Pisces: one graha holds the 3rd and the 6th together for this ascendant. The 3rd is an upachaya, and the 6th a dusthana and an upachaya.
The lagna lord, Venus, counts Jupiter neutral, while Jupiter counts Venus an enemy: for Libra ascendant the 1st and 3rd lords do not see each other the same way. The 3rd’s matters are younger siblings, courage and effort, communication style and short journeys; with Libra rising they sit in Sagittarius, a dual fire sign that is the 9th of the natural zodiac.
