lagna nakshatra
The Ascendant in Anuradha Nakshatra
Scorpio rising · nakshatra lord Saturn · 62 minutes at Delhi
A lagna in Anuradha, the 17th nakshatra, means Scorpio rising, whichever pada the degree is in, with Mars as lagna lord. Anuradha itself is ruled by Saturn. Mars counts Saturn neutral, while Saturn counts Mars an enemy.
By sign, Saturn, Anuradha’s lord, is in an enemy's sign in Scorpio, the lagna sign. In the navamsa each pada sets, that pada’s lagna lord is in a friend's sign in pada 1 (Leo), in an enemy's sign in pada 2 (Virgo), in a neutral sign in pada 3 (Libra) and in its own sign in pada 4 (Scorpio).
How Long Anuradha Takes to Rise
The ascendant crosses Anuradha’s 13°20′ in 62 minutes at Delhi, 61 minutes at Kolkata, 60 minutes at Mumbai and 59 minutes at Chennai. At Delhi that makes Anuradha the 25th-fastest of the 27. The difference between the four cities is about 4 minutes, the 8th-smallest of any nakshatra, and Anuradha’s arc lies 26° from the December solstice point, which is what that figure tracks (the comparison table shows how). These are durations, not clock times. When Anuradha actually rises depends on the date and the longitude, and a birth time a few minutes out moves the ascendant through a pada.
