lagna nakshatra
The Ascendant in Revati Nakshatra
Pisces rising · nakshatra lord Mercury · 38 minutes at Delhi
A lagna in Revati, the 27th nakshatra, means Pisces rising, whichever pada the degree is in, with Jupiter as lagna lord. Revati itself is ruled by Mercury. Jupiter counts Mercury an enemy, while Mercury counts Jupiter neutral.
By sign, Mercury, Revati’s lord, is debilitated in Pisces, the lagna sign. In the navamsa each pada sets, that pada’s lagna lord is in its own sign in pada 1 (Sagittarius), debilitated in pada 2 (Capricorn), in a neutral sign in pada 3 (Aquarius) and in its own sign in pada 4 (Pisces).
How Long Revati Takes to Rise
The ascendant crosses Revati’s 13°20′ in 38 minutes at Delhi, 41 minutes at Kolkata, 43 minutes at Mumbai and 45 minutes at Chennai. At Delhi that makes Revati the 3rd-fastest of the 27. The difference between the four cities is about 6 minutes, the 22nd-smallest of any nakshatra, and Revati’s arc lies 108° from the December solstice point, which is what that figure tracks (the comparison table shows how). These are durations, not clock times. When Revati actually rises depends on the date and the longitude, and a birth time a few minutes out moves the ascendant through a pada.

Minutes of rising time per pada. The navamsa column is the D-9 ascendant each pada gives: Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) for pada 1, Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) for pada 2, Aquarius (ruled by Saturn) for pada 3 and Pisces (ruled by Jupiter) for pada 4. Pada 4 is vargottama, the same sign as lagna and as navamsa lagna. Pada 4 is a gandanta pada, at the junction of a water sign and the fire sign after it.
