Capricorn is your seventh house, and between the 15th and the 27th of December it goes from holding one body to holding three. Venus arrives at 8:06 am on Wednesday 15 December. Mars arrives at 12:57 pm on Monday 27 December, exalted from the moment it crosses. Rahu has been there all along.

There is a structural fact about that house which belongs to Karka Rashi and to no other sign, and it decides how the whole thing reads. Capricorn is Saturn’s own sign, and Saturn is your seventh lord. So every planet arriving in your partnership house arrives as Saturn’s guest — and Saturn itself is retrograde in your ninth house until 8:45 am on Friday 24 December, three days before Mars gets there.

That pairing is also a day rather than a minute, for a different and more interesting reason. Our table computes the node’s position on the mean model. The mean node and the true node can stand as much as one and three-quarter degrees apart, and Venus covers a little over a degree a day, so choosing the true node moves the event by more than a day. Where the arithmetic supports a minute this site prints one. Here it does not.

Venus with Rahu in the seventh house is the classic transit of an attractive partnership whose terms are larger in the telling than on paper. Take the meeting. Discount the projection. And then Mars arrives exalted on the 27th and supplies something the other two do not: the willingness to actually decide.

One piece of arithmetic keeps that last week honest. Mars enters Capricorn at zero degrees and reaches only 3°29′ by the 31st, while Rahu is at 9°17′. They share the sign for five days, but Mars ends the year five degrees forty-eight minutes short of the node’s degree. We publish a station to the minute while we would not publish an ingress at this speed, and the reason is not caution but kind. A station is the moment a planet’s apparent motion reverses, which follows from the geometry between the Earth and the planet and from nothing else. A sign boundary crossing at twenty-six arcminutes a month depends on where the boundary is drawn, which depends on the ayanamsa. The first is intrinsic. The second is conventional.

So the house that fills up with Rahu, Venus and an exalted Mars is under the benefic’s aspect for every day of the month. That is the single most reassuring feature of December for your sign, and it is easy to miss because nothing about it moves. Jupiter’s ninth aspect from the third also falls on your eleventh house, where the Full Moon lands on the 13th.

A Burnt Mercury in Your Fifth House, Then Your Sixth

Mercury is combust for every one of December’s thirty-one days. It begins the month about six degrees from the Sun, comes to the Sun’s exact degree at 3:46 am on Sunday 12 December — 25°23′ of Scorpio, in Jyeshtha pada 3 — and is still only about eleven degrees away on the 31st, never leaving the twelve-degree orb the classical texts read as asta.

For Karka that happens in your fifth house until 2:03 am on Wednesday 15 December and your sixth after it, with the Sun following at 4:33 pm on the 16th. The fifth is children, study, creative work and speculation; a burnt Mercury there for a fortnight is the wrong period for an examination decision, a school admission or anything speculative.
