Leo Rashifal August 2027 (Simha Rashi): The Sun Comes Home on the 17th, and the Month Ends With a New Moon on Your Sign

Published 2026-08-22 | Live Pandit Ji

August 2027 divides cleanly in two for Simha Rashi, and the hinge is a single instant. At 2:07 pm on Tuesday 17 August the Sun leaves Cancer and enters Leo — its own sign, and your rashi. That is Simha Sankranti, the day your lord comes home, and it is also the day your twelfth house finally empties.

Until then the sky is somewhere else. Six of the month’s eight exact conjunctions happen in Cancer, your twelfth house of expense and withdrawal, between the 4th and the 12th, with Ketu sitting there for all thirty-one days. August 2027 has eight exact conjunctions in total — July 2027 had one — and for you almost all of them land in the one house that gives nothing back directly.

Then everything arrives at once. Mercury crosses onto your sign at 11:50 am on Saturday 14 August, Venus at 9:29 am on Monday 16 August, the Sun at 2:07 pm on Tuesday 17 August, and Jupiter has been there since before the month began. Four planets on Simha Rashi from that afternoon. And the month closes with a New Moon on the rashi itself at 11:11 pm on Tuesday 31 August, at 13°54′ of Leo.

Four Planets on Your Own Sign — and Two of Them Invisible

Jupiter holds Leo for the whole month, running from 6°54′ to 13°33′, crossing out of Magha and into Purva Phalguni in the last hours of August. Guru on the rashi for a full month is one of the better things that can happen to a Simha chart. Mercury joins it, Venus joins it, and then the Sun arrives in its own sign, which is the classical picture of a strong first house: lord at home, benefic present, communication and desire alongside.

The complication is arithmetical, and it is the same event twice. Venus is combust for all thirty-one days — Shukra asta runs from 6 July to 17 September, deepest at 5:50 am on Thursday 12 August when the Sun is exact with Venus at 24°52′ of Cancer. And Jupiter goes combust from 16 August to 15 September, for exactly the reason the month is otherwise good for you: the Sun closes to within the combustion orb of Jupiter as it comes home. The very transit that strengthens your first house extinguishes the benefic already sitting in it.

So read the second half of August as structurally excellent and visibly quiet. Two exact conjunctions happen on your rashi: Mercury with Jupiter at 4:16 am on Friday 20 August at 10°59′ of Leo in Magha pada 4, and Venus with Jupiter at 8:29 am on Thursday 26 August at 12°19′. Both are conjunctions with a combust Jupiter, and the second is between two combust bodies. Guru–Budh and Guru–Shukra on your own sign are genuinely favourable placements whose results are deferred rather than denied.

A New Moon on Simha Rashi, Inside a Chandra Window

August 2027 has two New Moons: one at 3:35 pm on Monday 2 August at 15°42′ of Cancer, in your twelfth house, and the second at 11:11 pm on Tuesday 31 August at 13°54′ of Leo, in Purva Phalguni pada 1 — on your rashi. Two lunations in one calendar month is uncommon, and for Simha the second falls exactly where it does the most good.

It also falls inside a Chandra window. The Moon is on Leo twice this month: from 2:16 pm on Tuesday 3 August to 2:49 pm on Thursday 5 August — forty-eight hours thirty-three minutes — and again from 1:02 am on Tuesday 31 August to 1:12 am on Thursday 2 September, forty-eight hours ten minutes. Only Simha and Karka get two windows in August 2027, because a thirty-one-day month exceeds the Moon’s sidereal circuit by about a day and a half.

The second window is dense. Mercury reaches Virgo and exaltation fifty-five minutes after it opens, the Sun enters Purva Phalguni nine hours three minutes in, and the New Moon forms on the rashi twenty-two hours nine minutes in. A New Moon on your own sign, with the Moon physically there, at the close of the month your lord came home — that is the single best moment August 2027 offers Simha Rashi, and it is on the last night of it.

August also gives you five Sundays — the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th. The Sun rules Simha, so those are your days, and the last two fall after Sankranti with the Sun in its own sign. See our pages on Surya remedies and Sunday fasting.

The First Fortnight Belongs to Your Twelfth House

Before any of that, Cancer holds the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Ketu, and six exact conjunctions occur there in nine days. The Sun is exact with Ketu at 6:07 am on Wednesday 4 August at 17°13′. Venus is exact with Ketu at 11:15 pm on Thursday 5 August. Mercury is exact with Ketu at 3:16 am on Sunday 8 August. Then the three meet each other: Mercury with Venus at 11:59 am on Wednesday 11 August, the Sun with Mercury at 4:32 pm the same day, and the Sun with Venus at 5:50 am on Thursday 12 August.

A twelfth house this active is not a disaster and it is not a windfall. It is outflow. Money leaves, energy goes into things that are not visible from outside, sleep is disturbed, and travel or hospitals or paperwork about somewhere else take up the fortnight. Ketu there for the whole month sharpens the sense that effort is disappearing into a place you cannot audit. The first New Moon of the month, on the 2nd, forms in that house — which makes it a reasonable point to start something private and a poor point to launch anything public.

The practical instruction is simple: put your visible moves after the 17th. Between the 2nd and the 12th, settle, pay, close and rest. From the 17th, act.

Saturn Retrograde in Your Ninth, and the Full Moon in Your Sixth

Saturn is debilitated in Aries in your ninth house for all thirty-one days, and it turns retrograde at 11:04 pm on Monday 9 August. It covers only 3°34′ to 3°13′ of Ashwini in the whole month — about a third of a degree, backwards. We publish that station to the minute because a station is intrinsic to the geometry of the Earth and the planet and does not shift with the ayanamsa, and we give Saturn’s sign position only as a sign, because at 0.035 degrees a day a printed crossing time would be false precision.

The ninth is the house of the father, the teacher, dharma and long journeys. A debilitated retrograde Saturn there reads as an old obligation returning — a guru’s instruction ignored, a father’s expectation deferred, a pilgrimage or a course postponed. It does not usually arrive as a crisis. It arrives as a reminder that will not be dismissed a second time. See our Shani remedies page.

The Full Moon of 12:58 pm on Tuesday 17 August forms at the very end of Capricorn, in the closing minutes of Dhanishta pada 2 — your sixth house of debt, illness and adversaries, where Rahu also sits all month. The sixth is an upachaya house, so a Full Moon there is more useful than it sounds: it is the annual point at which what is draining you becomes visible enough to name. The timing is remarkable — the Moon leaves Capricorn at 1:04 pm, six minutes after the lunation, and Simha Sankranti follows at 2:07 pm. Three events in sixty-nine minutes, on the day your lord comes home. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August, and the Purnima tithi it needs ends at the Full Moon itself.

The Month’s Fixed Points

  • Sunday 1 August, 11:21 am — Mercury enters Pushya in your twelfth house. The first of five Sundays.
  • Monday 2 August, 3:35 pm — the first New Moon forms in your twelfth house at 15°42′ of Cancer, in Pushya pada 4. That day’s panchang.
  • Tuesday 3 August, 2:16 pm — the Moon arrives on Simha Rashi for forty-eight hours thirty-three minutes. The Sun enters Ashlesha at 4:26 pm.
  • Wednesday 4 August, 6:07 am — the Sun is exact with Ketu at 17°13′ in your twelfth house, fifteen hours fifty-one minutes into your Chandra window. Hariyali Teej falls on Wednesday 4 August.
  • Thursday 5 August, 2:49 pm — the Moon leaves Leo. Venus entered Ashlesha at 2:24 pm and is exact with Ketu at 11:15 pm.
  • Friday 6 August — Nag Panchami.
  • Sunday 8 August, 3:16 am — Mercury is exact with Ketu at 17°01′ in your twelfth house, the third and last of the Ketu conjunctions.
  • Monday 9 August, 11:04 pm — Saturn turns retrograde in your ninth house, debilitated. Panchang for the day.
  • Wednesday 11 August, 11:59 am and 4:32 pm — Mercury exact with Venus at 23°57′, then the Sun exact with Mercury at 24°20′, both in your twelfth house.
  • Thursday 12 August, 5:50 am — the Sun is exact with Venus at 24°52′: the deepest point of Shukra asta.
  • Friday 13 August, 8:23 pm — Mars enters Chitra in your second house.
  • Saturday 14 August, 11:50 am — Mercury crosses onto Simha Rashi and enters Magha at the same instant. Ketu reverses into Pushya the same day, which we give as a day and not a minute: at 0.053 degrees a day, a printed time would be false precision.
  • Monday 16 August, 9:29 am — Venus crosses onto your rashi and enters Magha, combust. Guru asta begins: Jupiter is combust on your own sign to 15 September.
  • Tuesday 17 August, 12:58 pm — the Full Moon forms in your sixth house at the end of Capricorn, in Dhanishta pada 2. The Moon leaves Capricorn at 1:04 pm, six minutes later.
  • Tuesday 17 August, 2:07 pm — Simha Sankranti: the Sun enters Leo, its own sign and yours, and Magha. Four planets now stand on your rashi. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August. Panchang for the day.
  • Friday 20 August, 4:16 am — Mercury is exact with Jupiter at 10°59′ of Leo, on your own sign, in Magha pada 4.
  • Saturday 21 August, 10:40 am — Mercury enters Purva Phalguni on your rashi.
  • Tuesday 24 August, 9:42 am — Mars leaves your second house for your third. Krishna Janmashtami falls on Tuesday 24 August.
  • Thursday 26 August, 8:29 am — Venus is exact with Jupiter at 12°19′ of Leo, on your rashi, with both combust.
  • Friday 27 August, 4:03 am — Venus enters Purva Phalguni on your sign.
  • Sunday 29 August, 1:19 am — Mercury enters Uttara Phalguni, its last nakshatra in Leo. The fifth Sunday.
  • Tuesday 31 August, 1:02 am — the Moon returns to Simha Rashi. Mercury reaches Virgo and exaltation at 1:57 am, fifty-five minutes later; the Sun enters Purva Phalguni at 10:05 am; Jupiter reaches Purva Phalguni on your sign in the last hours of the month; and the second New Moon forms on your own rashi at 11:11 pm, at 13°54′ of Leo. Panchang for the day.

Week by Week

Thirty-one days running Sunday to Tuesday. Five Sundays, five Mondays and five Tuesdays; four each of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The five Sundays are yours, and the 22nd and the 29th fall with the Sun in its own sign.

1–7 August

An expensive, inward week. The first New Moon forms in your twelfth house at 3:35 pm on Monday the 2nd, the Moon arrives on your sign at 2:16 pm on Tuesday the 3rd for forty-eight hours thirty-three minutes, and the Sun crosses Ketu in the twelfth at 6:07 am on Wednesday the 4th — fifteen hours fifty-one minutes into that window. Venus follows across the same point at 11:15 pm on Thursday the 5th. Hariyali Teej falls on Wednesday 4 August. Nag Panchami falls on Friday 6 August. Use the Moon’s window on the 3rd and 4th for anything personal; use the rest of the week to close accounts.

8–14 August

The heaviest stretch. Mercury crosses Ketu in your twelfth house at 3:16 am on Sunday the 8th, Saturn turns retrograde in your ninth at 11:04 pm on Monday the 9th, and Wednesday the 11th carries two exact conjunctions within five hours, with the third and deepest at 5:50 am on Thursday the 12th. Five of the month’s eight conjunctions fall in this week, all of them in the house of outflow. Mars enters Chitra at 8:23 pm on Friday the 13th, and the turn begins at 11:50 am on Saturday the 14th, when Mercury crosses onto your rashi. Expect fatigue and unexpected bills, and expect them to end.

15–21 August

The pivot of the month and of the year. Venus crosses onto your sign at 9:29 am on Monday the 16th and Guru asta begins the same day. Tuesday the 17th holds three events inside sixty-nine minutes: the Full Moon in your sixth house at 12:58 pm, the Moon out of Capricorn at 1:04 pm, and Simha Sankranti at 2:07 pm, which brings the Sun home to its own sign and puts four planets on your rashi. Raksha Bandhan falls on Tuesday 17 August. Mercury is exact with Jupiter on your own sign at 4:16 am on Friday the 20th. If one week in the year is yours to begin something in public, this is it.

22–28 August

Consolidation with the Sun at home. Mars leaves your second house for your third at 9:42 am on Tuesday the 24th, which is Krishna Janmashtami — a malefic moving from money into effort, which is an improvement for you: the third is an upachaya house where Mars does well. Venus is exact with Jupiter on your rashi at 8:29 am on Thursday the 26th, both combust, and enters Purva Phalguni at 4:03 am on Friday the 27th. Nothing dramatic; steady accumulation.

29–31 August

The best three days. Mercury enters Uttara Phalguni at 1:19 am on Sunday the 29th, and the Moon returns to Simha Rashi at 1:02 am on Tuesday the 31st. Fifty-five minutes later Mercury reaches Virgo and exaltation, at 10:05 am the Sun enters Purva Phalguni, Jupiter reaches the same nakshatra on your sign in the last hours of the month, and at 11:11 pm the second New Moon forms on your own rashi at 13°54′ of Leo. A lunation on the rashi with the Moon there and the Sun in its own sign is the month’s best moment, and it is the last one.

Career and Money for Simha Rashi

Your tenth house of career is Taurus, empty all month, ruled by a Venus that is combust for all thirty-one days and spends the second half of the month on your rashi rather than in the house it owns. So career does not advance through the tenth house this August. It advances through you: a first house holding the Sun in its own sign, Jupiter, Mercury and Venus is a strong platform for visibility, authority and being asked to lead. The gains show up as position and reputation before they show up as money.

Money itself is front-loaded with expense and back-loaded with structure. Your second house is Virgo, which Mars holds for the first twenty-three days — a malefic in the house of wealth reads as pressure on cash flow — and it leaves at 9:42 am on 24 August. Mercury, which owns that house, then arrives in it exalted at 1:57 am on 31 August. The lord of your second house exalted in your second house on the last day of the month is a genuinely good signal that carries into September. See our financial remedies page and career remedies page.

The twelfth house does the damage, and the six conjunctions there between the 4th and the 12th say clearly where. Expect the outflow in the first fortnight, budget for it, and do not read it as loss of standing. Your eleventh house of gains is Cancer, ruled by the Moon — and the Moon is on your sign for two windows this month rather than in the eleventh, so gains come from your own initiative rather than from a network.

Home, Family and Partnership

Your seventh house of partnership is Aquarius, empty for the whole month, ruled by the same debilitated retrograde Saturn that sits in your ninth. An empty seventh with a weakened lord is a quiet month for the relationship rather than a difficult one: nothing forces the issue, and nothing resolves it either. The Full Moon on the 17th lands in your sixth, not your seventh, so what surfaces that day is a drain or an obligation rather than a partner.

The wedding calendar is shut end to end regardless. Chaturmas covers all thirty-one days, Venus is combust to 17 September, and Jupiter is combust from the 16th to 15 September. All three conditions independently rule out a marriage muhurat, and the marriage muhurat page for August 2027 sets out the arithmetic. Nothing is available and nothing is being missed.

Home is steady. Your fourth house is Scorpio, empty, ruled by a Mars that spends the month in your second and third houses — both places where it is comparatively harmless. Jupiter on your rashi aspects the fifth, seventh and ninth from Leo, which in practice means the household benefits from your presence rather than from any particular event. The griha pravesh page for August 2027 explains why the formal ceremony still waits, and the child samskaras page covers the same ground for a naming or first-feeding.

Health

The health signal is the twelfth house, and it is about sleep before anything else. Six exact conjunctions in the house of rest and dissolution, in nine days, with Ketu there for the whole month, is the classical picture of a body that cannot switch off. Between the 2nd and the 12th, protect the hours: fixed bedtime, no work after dark, no decisions taken tired. The Sun crossing Ketu on the 4th and the Sun–Venus conjunction on the 12th are the two points to be gentlest with yourself.

The Full Moon in your sixth on the 17th is a useful diagnostic date rather than a dangerous one — the sixth is where illness is defeated, not only where it appears, and a Full Moon there illuminates what needs treating. From the 17th, with the Sun in its own sign on your rashi, vitality is the best it will be all year. Your two Chandra windows are 2:16 pm on 3 August to 2:49 pm on 5 August and 1:02 am on 31 August to 1:12 am on 2 September; brahma muhurta on the 4th and on the 31st are the strongest two mornings of the month.

Remedies for Simha Rashi in August 2027

Four conditions define the month: six of the eight exact conjunctions falling in your twelfth house between the 4th and the 12th with Ketu there; the Sun returning to its own sign on your rashi at 2:07 pm on the 17th, bringing the total on Simha Rashi to four planets; Venus combust all month and Jupiter combust on your own sign from the 16th; and a New Moon forming on your rashi at 11:11 pm on the 31st.

  • Surya practice on the five Sundays — 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 August: the month’s central observance, because the Sun rules Simha and comes home on the 17th. Water offered at sunrise facing east, wheat or jaggery given away, and no salt after dark. See Surya remedies and Sunday fasting.
  • Guard the first fortnight’s sleep: a twelfth house holding six exact conjunctions with Ketu is an outflow of rest before it is an outflow of money. Fixed bedtime between the 2nd and the 12th, and nothing signed while tired.
  • Give something away in the first half, deliberately: the classical response to a crowded twelfth house is to choose where the outflow goes rather than let it choose you. Anna daan on the 4th, the 8th or the 12th.
  • Ketu practice for the twelfth house: Ketu is there all month and three planets cross it exactly. See our Ketu remedies and the Rahu–Ketu page.
  • Guru observance on the Thursdays — 5, 12, 19 and 26 August: Jupiter is on your own sign for all thirty-one days and combust from the 16th, so it needs support precisely when it goes invisible. Chana dal, turmeric, yellow cloth. See Guru remedies and Thursday fasting.
  • Shani observance on the Saturdays — 7, 14, 21 and 28 August: Saturn is debilitated and retrograde in your ninth house of dharma and the teacher. Sesame oil, black til, mustard oil to a peepal after sundown. See Shani remedies and Saturday fasting.
  • Make the 31st the start line: a New Moon on your own sign, with the Moon there and the Sun in its own sign, is the strongest beginning the year offers Simha. Name what you are starting on that night rather than on the 2nd.

In Summary

For Simha Rashi, August 2027 is a month with a hinge in it. Until 2:07 pm on Tuesday 17 August the sky is in your twelfth house, where six of the month’s eight exact conjunctions occur between the 4th and the 12th with Ketu present throughout — an expensive, inward, sleep-poor fortnight. At that instant Simha Sankranti brings the Sun into its own sign and onto your rashi, and your first house holds four planets.

The qualifier is combustion, and it is the same event that helps you. The Sun closing on Jupiter is what makes your first house strong and what makes Jupiter combust there from the 16th to 15 September; Venus arrives on the rashi already combust and stays so past the month’s end. Both conjunctions on your sign — Mercury with Jupiter at 4:16 am on 20 August and Venus with Jupiter at 8:29 am on 26 August — are therefore favourable placements with deferred results.

The month ends better than it begins. The Moon returns to Leo at 1:02 am on 31 August, Mercury reaches exaltation fifty-five minutes later, and a New Moon forms on your own rashi at 11:11 pm that night at 13°54′ of Leo. Around it: a debilitated Saturn retrograde in your ninth from 11:04 pm on 9 August, and the Full Moon of 12:58 pm on 17 August in your sixth house six minutes before the Moon changes sign. All of this is sign-level. Which of the nine Leo padas holds your natal Moon, where the Sun sits in your own chart, and which dasha is running decide how much of it reaches you. For more, read July’s reading, what Simha Rashi settles and what the pada decides, and our page on strengthening a weak Sun.

Four planets on your own sign, two of them combust

Whether a Sun in its own sign on the rashi reaches you as authority or as heat depends on which of your padas holds the natal Moon and where the Sun sits in your own chart — a sign-level reading cannot settle that.
