The 10th Lord in the 7th House

The 10th lord in the 7th house is the ruler of the 10th, the Karma Bhava, placed in the 7th, the Kalatra Bhava. The 10th is a kendra and an upachaya and the 7th a kendra. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 10th, the 7th is the 10th house, which from any house is a kendra and an upachaya position; counted back from the 7th, the 10th is the 4th, a kendra position from it.

The Reverse: the 7th Lord in the 10th

Where the 7th lord sits in the 10th in the same chart as the 10th lord in the 7th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Gemini (Jupiter) and Sagittarius (Mercury) one graha rules both the 10th and the 7th, so there is nothing to exchange.
