The 7th Lord in the 4th House

The 7th lord in the 4th house is the ruler of the 7th, the Kalatra Bhava, placed in the 4th, the Sukha Bhava. The 7th is a kendra and the 4th a kendra, so the 7th lord in the 4th joins two houses of the same class. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 7th, the 4th is the 10th house, which from any house is a kendra and an upachaya position; counted back from the 4th, the 7th is the 4th, a kendra position from it.

The Reverse: the 4th Lord in the 7th

Where the 4th lord sits in the 7th in the same chart as the 7th lord in the 4th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Virgo (Jupiter) and Pisces (Mercury) one graha rules both the 7th and the 4th, so there is nothing to exchange.
