The 7th Lord in the 2nd House

The 7th lord in the 2nd house is the ruler of the 7th, the Kalatra Bhava, placed in the 2nd, the Dhana Bhava. The 7th is a kendra and the 2nd in none of them. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 7th, the 2nd is the 8th house, which from any house is a dusthana position; counted back from the 2nd, the 7th is the 6th, a dusthana and an upachaya position from it.

Across the twelve ascendants the 7th lord in the 2nd is exalted for Gemini, in its own sign for Aries and Libra, in a friend's sign for Leo and Aquarius, in a neutral sign for Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn and Pisces and in an enemy's sign for Taurus, Cancer and Virgo. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Capricorn and Aquarius, where one of them is the 7th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 7th lord brings with it to the 2nd.

For Aries ascendant the 7th lord, Venus, also rules the 2nd, so in the 2nd it sits in its own other sign, Taurus. For Libra ascendant the 7th lord, Mars, also rules the 2nd, so in the 2nd it sits in its own other sign, Scorpio.

The Reverse: the 2nd Lord in the 7th

Where the 2nd lord sits in the 7th in the same chart as the 7th lord in the 2nd, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for ten ascendants. For Aries (Venus) and Libra (Mars) one graha rules both the 7th and the 2nd, so there is nothing to exchange.
