The 1st Lord for Leo Ascendant: Sun
1st house = Leo · lord Sun
With Leo rising, the 1st house is Leo, the ascendant itself, and Leo is ruled by the Sun. So for Leo ascendant the 1st lord is the Sun, which rules no other sign, so for Leo ascendant it holds the 1st alone. The 1st is a kendra and a trikona.
The Sun is therefore the lagna lord of Leo ascendant itself. The 1st’s matters are personal identity and life direction; with Leo rising they sit in Leo, a fixed fire sign that is the 5th of the natural zodiac.
Leo as the 1st House of Leo Ascendant
Leo exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 1st for Leo ascendant, and it debilitates none. The house holds Magha (all four padas), Purva Phalguni (all four padas) and Uttara Phalguni (pada 1), whose lords are Ketu, Venus and the Sun; the Sun rules one of them, Uttara Phalguni, so for Leo ascendant the 1st lord also owns a nakshatra inside the 1st. Opposite, across the chart, the 7th holds Aquarius, ruled by Saturn.
