The 12th Lord for Leo Ascendant: Moon
12th house = Cancer · lord Moon
With Leo rising, the 12th house is Cancer, the 12th sign counted from Leo, and Cancer is ruled by the Moon. So for Leo ascendant the 12th lord is the Moon, which rules no other sign, so for Leo ascendant it holds the 12th alone. The 12th is a dusthana.
The lagna lord, the Sun, and the 12th lord, the Moon, count each other a friend for Leo ascendant. The 12th’s matters are expenses and losses, foreign residence, spiritual liberation and subconscious mind; with Leo rising they sit in Cancer, a movable water sign that is the 4th of the natural zodiac.
Cancer as the 12th House of Leo Ascendant
Cancer exalts Jupiter, deepest at 5°, so for Leo ascendant Jupiter is exalted in the 12th; it debilitates Mars at 28°, so Mars is debilitated in the 12th. The house holds Punarvasu (pada 4), Pushya (all four padas) and Ashlesha (all four padas), whose lords are Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury; the Moon rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 6th holds Capricorn, ruled by Saturn.
Where the Moon Is Strong and Weak, as Houses of Leo Ascendant
Counted from Leo, the Moon is exalted in the 10th, debilitated in the 4th, and in its own sign in the 12th. Exaltation and debilitation are always six signs apart, so for Leo ascendant the 12th lord’s best and worst houses face each other across the chart.

The Moon Through the 12th and Its Exaltation House, 2026–2028
The Moon crosses Cancer, the 12th house of Leo ascendant, 40 times between 2026 and 2028, for 47 to 53 hours at a time, and Taurus, its exaltation house for Leo, 40 times. Its own monthly round makes the 12th lord’s transit of the 12th a recurring event rather than a date.
