The 4th Lord for Leo Ascendant: Mars
4th house = Scorpio · lord Mars · also lord of the 9th
With Leo rising, the 4th house is Scorpio, the 4th sign counted from Leo, and Scorpio is ruled by Mars. So for Leo ascendant the 4th lord is Mars, which also rules the 9th through Aries: one graha holds the 4th and the 9th together for this ascendant. The 4th is a kendra, and the 9th a trikona. That pairing puts a kendra and a trikona other than the 1st in one graha’s hands for Leo ascendant.
The lagna lord, the Sun, and the 4th lord, Mars, count each other a friend for Leo ascendant. The 4th’s matters are mother's influence, home and property, inner contentment and vehicles; with Leo rising they sit in Scorpio, a fixed water sign that is the 8th of the natural zodiac.
Scorpio as the 4th House of Leo Ascendant
Scorpio exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 4th for Leo ascendant; it debilitates the Moon at 3°, so the Moon is debilitated in the 4th. The house holds Vishakha (pada 4), Anuradha (all four padas) and Jyeshtha (all four padas), whose lords are Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury; Mars rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 10th holds Taurus, ruled by Venus.
Where Mars Is Strong and Weak, as Houses of Leo Ascendant
Counted from Leo, Mars is exalted in the 6th, debilitated in the 12th, and in its own sign in the 4th and the 9th. Exaltation and debilitation are always six signs apart, so for Leo ascendant the 4th lord’s best and worst houses face each other across the chart.
