The 4th Lord in the 5th House

The 4th lord in the 5th house is the ruler of the 4th, the Sukha Bhava, placed in the 5th, the Putra Bhava. The 4th is a kendra and the 5th a trikona. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 4th, the 5th is the 2nd house; counted back from the 5th, the 4th is the 12th, a dusthana position from it.

Across the twelve ascendants the 4th lord in the 5th is in its own sign for Libra, in a friend's sign for Aries, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius, in a neutral sign for Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn, in an enemy's sign for Pisces and debilitated for Virgo. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Aries and Taurus, where one of them is the 4th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 4th lord brings with it to the 5th.

Where the 5th lord sits in the 4th in the same chart as the 4th lord in the 5th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for eleven ascendants. For Libra (Saturn) one graha rules both the 4th and the 5th, so there is nothing to exchange.
