The 5th Lord in the 4th House

The 5th lord in the 4th house is the ruler of the 5th, the Putra Bhava, placed in the 4th, the Sukha Bhava. The 5th is a trikona and the 4th a kendra. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 5th, the 4th is the 12th house, which from any house is a dusthana position; counted back from the 4th, the 5th is the 2nd.

The 5th Lord in the 4th, Ascendant by Ascendant

Across the twelve ascendants the 5th lord in the 4th is in its own sign for Libra, in a friend's sign for Aries, Taurus, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Pisces, in a neutral sign for Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio and Capricorn and debilitated for Gemini. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Aries and Pisces, where one of them is the 5th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 5th lord brings with it to the 4th.

For Libra ascendant the 5th lord, Saturn, also rules the 4th, so in the 4th it sits in its own other sign, Capricorn.

Where the 4th lord sits in the 5th in the same chart as the 5th lord in the 4th, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. That is possible for eleven ascendants. For Libra (Saturn) one graha rules both the 5th and the 4th, so there is nothing to exchange.
