The 4th Lord in the 2nd House

The 4th lord in the 2nd house is the ruler of the 4th, the Sukha Bhava, placed in the 2nd, the Dhana Bhava. The 4th is a kendra and the 2nd in none of them. Which graha that lord is depends on the ascendant, so the table below answers for all twelve.

Counted from the 4th, the 2nd is the 11th house, which from any house is an upachaya position; counted back from the 2nd, the 4th is the 3rd, an upachaya position from it.

The 4th Lord in the 2nd, Ascendant by Ascendant

Across the twelve ascendants the 4th lord in the 2nd is exalted for Aries and Aquarius, in a neutral sign for Taurus, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces, in an enemy's sign for Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo and Libra and debilitated for Sagittarius. The Sun and the Moon rule one sign each, so for Aries and Taurus, where one of them is the 4th lord, it rules no other house; for the other ten the last column gives the second house the 4th lord brings with it to the 2nd.

For Leo ascendant (Mars, ruling the 4th and 9th), Libra ascendant (Saturn, ruling the 4th and 5th) and Aquarius ascendant (Venus, ruling the 4th and 9th), the 4th lord rules both a kendra and a trikona other than the 1st, and in the 2nd it is in an enemy's sign for Leo, in an enemy's sign for Libra and exalted for Aquarius.

The Reverse: the 2nd Lord in the 4th

Where the 2nd lord sits in the 4th in the same chart as the 4th lord in the 2nd, each lord occupies the other’s sign, an exchange the texts call parivartana. For all twelve ascendants the 4th and the 2nd have different lords, so the exchange is possible whatever the ascendant.
