Where the 5th Lordship Comes From

The Sun owns Leo. Counting from Aries as the first house, Leo is the 5th — which is the whole of it. One sign, one house, so there is nothing to weigh against it.

Trikona lordship — the 1st, 5th and 9th — is what makes a graha a functional benefic for an ascendant, whatever its natural character. That is why ruby is safe for Aries even though the Sun is a natural malefic (mild malefic).

Wearing It Alongside Red Coral

Red Coral is the Aries primary stone, because Mars rules Aries (Mesha) and owns the 1st and the 8th from it. So the pairing an Aries native is most likely to consider is ruby with red coral, and whether that is allowed depends on how the Sun and Mars rate each other.

The Sun rates Mars a friend, and Mars rates the Sun a friend. No enmity in either direction, so the combination is permitted — and mutual friendship is the strongest footing a pairing can have.

The Sun in Aries Itself

House lordship is one axis and sign dignity is another, and for an Aries ascendant they do not always agree. Aries is the Sun's exaltation sign, deepest at 10°. An Aries ascendant is one of the few from which the Sun is dignified by sign before house lordship is considered at all, and that argues for ruby on grounds entirely separate from the 5th.

The Sun governs soul, ego, vitality, leadership and father, and its mahadasha runs 6 years. For an Aries native those years read through the 5th — which is the practical reason the lordship above matters more than the stone's reputation does.

The Single Pada of Aries Where the Two Routes Agree

Selecting a stone by janma nakshatra is the more precise route, because it pins the birth Moon to one nakshatra instead of a whole sign. Three nakshatras touch Aries — but a sign is nine padas of 3°20′ and the three divide them unevenly, not into thirds. Krittika (Aries 26°40′ – Taurus 10°00′) is ruled by the Sun, and covers one of the nine.

So an Aries native born under it has both routes pointing at ruby at once — the ascendant's 5th lordship and the birth nakshatra's lord. That agreement is the strongest case any of these pages can make, and it applies to the single pada of Aries's nine that falls there, not to Aries births in general.

How to Wear It as an Aries Ascendant

1. Fix the weight first — roughly one ratti per ten kilograms of body weight, three to five ratti as a practical minimum. Confirm whether the quote is in the 0.9-carat ratti or the traditional 0.12-gram one.
2. Judge the stone before the setting. Ruby should glow rather than sit flat — the red should look lit from inside under daylight. Almost all commercial ruby is heat treated, which is generally accepted; glass-filled or lead-filled ruby is not, and is common at low prices. Colour to expect: pigeon-blood red through pinkish red.
3. Set it in gold with the back left open so the stone rests on skin, and wear it on the ring finger of the right hand. These follow the Sun, not Aries, so they differ from what the Aries primary stone asks for.
4. Wash the ring in raw milk, honey, ghee, curd and clean water, place it before Surya, and chant ॐ ह्रां ह्रीं ह्रौं सः सूर्याय नमः — Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah — 7,000 times, or have the japa performed for you.
5. Put it on for the first time on Sunday morning, and fast on Sunday to support the same graha.
6. You may keep red coral, the Aries primary stone, on at the same time, since the Sun and Mars carry no enmity either way. Observe the first thirty days and remove it if anything worsens sharply.

The Ascendants Ruby Reads Differently For

The same stone is not the same advice from every ascendant, and ruby is a clear example. From Aries it helps. The two ascendants below read differently, and nothing about the Sun or about ruby has changed: Leo lands on a different house when the counting starts from a different lagna.
