Where the 2nd and 7th Lordship Comes From

Venus owns Taurus and Libra. Counting from Aries as the first house, Taurus is the 2nd and Libra is the 7th — which is the whole of it. Two signs, two houses — the 2nd and the 7th from Aries — and the verdict on diamond turns on which of the two carries more weight.

Neither of these is a trikona or a dusthana, so the rule that decides most cases does not apply. Diamond is not contraindicated for Aries and it is not indicated either — it becomes relevant only if Venus is specifically afflicted in the chart, or if a dasha of Venus is running.

Wearing It Alongside Red Coral

Red Coral is the Aries primary stone, because Mars rules Aries (Mesha) and owns the 1st and the 8th from it. So the pairing an Aries native is most likely to consider is diamond with red coral, and whether that is allowed depends on how Venus and Mars rate each other.

Venus rates Mars a neutral, and Mars rates Venus a neutral. No enmity in either direction, so the combination is permitted.

On diamond generally: Lab-grown diamonds are chemically identical but tradition holds that only natural stones transmit the graha, so they are not used.

Venus in Aries Itself

House lordship is one axis and sign dignity is another, and for an Aries ascendant they do not always agree. Venus is exalted in Pisces and debilitated in Virgo, and Aries is neither. So there is no dignity bonus and no dignity penalty for an Aries ascendant, and the verdict on diamond rests entirely on the 2nd and the 7th.

Venus governs love, marriage, beauty and luxury, and its mahadasha runs 20 years. For an Aries native those years read through the 2nd and the 7th — which is the practical reason the lordship above matters more than the stone's reputation does.

The Four Padas of Aries Where the Two Routes Disagree

Selecting a stone by janma nakshatra is the more precise route, because it pins the birth Moon to one nakshatra instead of a whole sign. Three nakshatras touch Aries — but a sign is nine padas of 3°20′ and the three divide them unevenly, not into thirds. Bharani (Aries 13°20′ – 26°40′) is ruled by Venus, and covers four of the nine.

So there is a real disagreement for those births: the nakshatra lord is Venus, which argues for diamond, while the 2nd and the 7th from the ascendant argue against it. Neither route overrules the other on paper. In practice the ascendant's lordship is what a reading weighs first, and a birth under Bharani is the one circumstance in which an Aries native might be pointed at diamond anyway.

What an Aries Ascendant Should Wear Instead

A graha owning neither a trikona nor a dusthana from Aries has no particular work to do for that ascendant, and Venus is in exactly that position here. These stones do have work to do.

If the appeal is diamond itself rather than Venus, its upratna is opal — a substitute of the same graha with a far milder effect, which is the usual compromise where the primary stone is contraindicated.

The Ascendants Diamond Reads Differently For

The same stone is not the same advice from every ascendant, and diamond is a clear example. From Aries it is neither indicated nor forbidden. The two ascendants below read differently, and nothing about Venus or about diamond has changed: Taurus and Libra land on different houses when the counting starts from a different lagna.
