Ketu in Leo is in an enemy's sign. Leo is ruled by the Sun, and Ketu counts the Sun an enemy.

The relationship is not mutual, and that is the most useful thing on this page. Ketu regards the Sun as an enemy, but the Sun regards Ketu as neutral. The classical friendship table is asymmetric, which readers almost always assume it is not. In practice it means Ketu settles into Leo more warily than the host intends, so the placement behaves differently depending on which of the two is the stronger graha in the chart.

Leo is a sthira fire sign governing the heart and upper abdomen, and Ketu is reckoned malefic, governing detachment, moksha, past karma, intuition. Whatever Ketu signifies — moksha, past-life skill, renunciation, occult knowledge, medicine, flags and banners — is what this rashi’s fixity holds in place.

The Dignity, Stated Precisely

• Ketu’s own sign: None — Ketu co-lords Scorpio and is said to act as its dispositor. The standard scheme gives the nodes no rashi of their own; what is quoted is a co-lordship, and it is not universally accepted.
• Exalted in: Scorpio by the most common reckoning; Sagittarius in others.
• Debilitated in: Taurus by the same reckoning; Gemini in others.
• Moolatrikona: Not assigned in the standard system.
• Leo’s lord: Sun. Leo exalts no graha and debilitates no graha.

One honest caveat, because it applies to Ketu specifically. The standard exaltation table covers the seven grahas and does not assign the nodes a dignity at all; what is quoted above is the most common reckoning, and other traditions give a different sign. The rashi tables on this site record only the seven, which is why they and the graha tables disagree here and nowhere else. Treat a nodal “exaltation” as one school’s convention rather than a settled fact, and weigh the node by house, dispositor and dasha instead.

What Ketu Aspects From Leo

Ketu is given no aspect of its own by the classical texts, and the traditions that do assign one do not agree with each other — many lend it the aspects of its dispositor, others none at all. So this page does not print a list of signs Ketu aspects from Leo: doing so would be asserting a convention as a fact. What Ketu in Leo does do is take on the character of its dispositor, the Sun, and act through wherever the Sun sits in the chart. That is the reading to make, and it needs the whole chart.

The Axis: Ketu in Leo Means Rahu in Aquarius

The nodes are not two independent bodies. They are the two ends of one line — the intersections of the Moon’s orbit with the ecliptic — and they are always exactly six rashis apart. So Ketu in Leo is not a placement you can read on its own: it fixes Rahu in Aquarius, ruled by Saturn, and the axis has to be read as a pair.

That gives this particular axis two dispositors: the Sun for Ketu and Saturn for Rahu. Here they are different grahas, so the two ends of the axis answer to different masters and can be in very unequal condition. Whichever end carries the stronger dispositor tends to be where the axis actually delivers, and the classical reading is that Ketu amplifies while Rahu empties — the same axis produces excess at one end and detachment at the other.

How Far Leo Is From Ketu’s Own Ground

A graha is read partly by how far it has been displaced from the rashi it owns, and that distance is simple counting. Counting inclusively from Scorpio (a co-lordship rather than an ownership, as noted above), Leo falls as follows:

• 10th from Scorpio — a square, both of them kendra houses.
• 10th from Scorpio, the sign of its exaltation (on the commoner reckoning — this one is disputed) — a square, both of them kendra houses.
• 4th from Taurus, the sign of its fall — a square, both of them kendra houses.
• Opposite Leo stands Aquarius, ruled by Saturn — the rashi Ketu faces from here, and therefore the one it aspects whatever else it does or does not aspect.

The Company Ketu Keeps in Leo

Dignity runs in both directions, and the rashi has its own roster. Leo runs from 120°00′ to 150°00′ of sidereal longitude — the arc the Sun crosses about Aug 17 – Sep 16 — faces east, is classed male, and as a fire sign is of the Kshatriya varna. Within those thirty degrees:

• Ruled by Sun.
• Exalts no graha. Leo is one of the rashis with no exaltation degree in it at all, so nothing gains maximum strength here.
• Debilitates no graha. No graha reaches its lowest point inside Leo.
• Moolatrikona of Sun, 0°–20°.

So Leo holds neither an exaltation nor a debilitation degree, which makes it one of the more neutral hosts in the zodiac. There is no fixed point inside it for Ketu to be measured against, and the reading falls back on the Sun and on the pada. Leo’s own traits — confident, dramatic, generous, creative, proud — are the register in which detachment, moksha, past karma, intuition gets expressed when Ketu sits here.

The Nine Padas Ketu Crosses in Leo

A rashi is thirty degrees and a pada is three degrees twenty minutes, so every sign holds exactly nine padas — never a round number of nakshatras. Leo holds 3 nakshatras in whole or in part: Magha, Purva Phalguni and Uttara Phalguni (pada 1).

Ketu rules Ashwini, Magha, Mula, and one of them falls inside Leo: Magha. Those degrees are the part of Leo where Ketu is on its own ground regardless of what the sign lord thinks of it — a nakshatra lordship is a second, finer layer of dignity, and it does not have to agree with the first. That matters here, because it gives Ketu a foothold in a sign whose lord it counts an enemy.

When Ketu Is Actually in Leo

This is the part of the page that is not in a textbook. Computed from the DE421 sidereal ephemeris, Ketu occupies Leo for one stretch inside 2026 and 2027:

• 1 January 2026 to 5 December 2026 — 338 days. This stretch was already running when the computed window opens, so its true start lies before 2026, after which Ketu moves on to Cancer.

Dates rather than clock times, because that is what a placement question needs. The ingress instants are computed and are printed on the monthly readings, where they matter for choosing a day.

Reading Ketu in Leo

Ketu signifies moksha, past-life skill, renunciation, occult knowledge, medicine, flags and banners. In Leo those significations are filtered through a sthira fire sign ruled by the Sun, and the dignity above says how much support they get in the process. In an enemy’s sign they meet resistance from the host, and the results tend to arrive late or in a form the native did not ask for.

This is not a prediction, and it cannot be one: the house Leo occupies from the ascendant, which of the nine padas above holds the graha, and the running dasha all change the answer.
