The Venus Mahadasha for Capricorn Ascendant
20 years · Venus rules the 5th and 10th
The Parashari way to read a mahadasha for a given ascendant starts with the houses its lord holds. For Capricorn ascendant Venus rules the 5th (Taurus) and the 10th (Libra), so for Capricorn the 20-year Venus mahadasha carries both a trikona house and a kendra and an upachaya house. For Capricorn, then, Venus holds a kendra and a trikona other than the 1st together.
Counted from Capricorn, Venus is exalted in the 3rd (Pisces) and debilitated in the 9th (Virgo). Saturn, Capricorn’s lagna lord, and Venus count each other a friend. Venus’s own nakshatras fall in Bharani (the 4th), Purva Phalguni (the 8th) and Purva Ashadha (the 12th) for Capricorn ascendant, which is where a birth that opens in the Venus mahadasha has its Moon.

For Capricorn ascendant, three of the Venus mahadasha’s sub-periods belong to lords of a dusthana (the 6th, 8th or 12th): Venus–Sun, Venus–Jupiter and Venus–Mercury, and two to lords of a trikona other than the 1st: Venus–Venus and Venus–Mercury. The sub-period of Saturn, Capricorn’s lagna lord, is Venus–Saturn, the seventh of nine, 3 years 2 months long. Counted in time, sub-periods whose lords hold a dusthana for Capricorn take 6 years 6 months (33%) of the Venus mahadasha’s 20 years, and those whose lords hold a trikona other than the 1st take 6 years 2 months (31%); a lord holding both is counted in both. In the Venus mahadasha for Capricorn, the Rahu and Ketu sub-periods are read through their dispositors in the chart, since neither node rules a house.
For a Capricorn-rising chart this is the frame of the Venus mahadasha, not a forecast: where Venus and each sub-period lord actually sit, and their dignity there, decide what it comes to, and this page cannot know either.
