The 5th Lord for Capricorn Ascendant: Venus
5th house = Taurus · lord Venus · also lord of the 10th
With Capricorn rising, the 5th house is Taurus, the 5th sign counted from Capricorn, and Taurus is ruled by Venus. So for Capricorn ascendant the 5th lord is Venus, which also rules the 10th through Libra: one graha holds the 5th and the 10th together for this ascendant. The 5th is a trikona, and the 10th a kendra and an upachaya. That pairing puts a kendra and a trikona other than the 1st in one graha’s hands for Capricorn ascendant.
The lagna lord, Saturn, and the 5th lord, Venus, count each other a friend for Capricorn ascendant. The 5th’s matters are children, creativity and arts, romance and higher learning; with Capricorn rising they sit in Taurus, a fixed earth sign that is the 2nd of the natural zodiac.
Taurus as the 5th House of Capricorn Ascendant
Taurus exalts the Moon, deepest at 3°, so for Capricorn ascendant the Moon is exalted in the 5th, and it debilitates none. The house holds Krittika (padas 2, 3 and 4), Rohini (all four padas) and Mrigashira (padas 1 and 2), whose lords are the Sun, the Moon and Mars; Venus rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 11th holds Scorpio, ruled by Mars.
