The 6th Lord for Scorpio Ascendant: Mars
6th house = Aries · lord Mars · also lord of the 1st
With Scorpio rising, the 6th house is Aries, the 6th sign counted from Scorpio, and Aries is ruled by Mars. So for Scorpio ascendant the 6th lord is Mars, which also rules the 1st through Scorpio: one graha holds the 6th and the 1st together for this ascendant. The 6th is a dusthana and an upachaya, and the 1st a kendra and a trikona.
Mars is also the lagna lord of Scorpio ascendant, so the 6th and the 1st share one ruler. The 6th’s matters are debts and loans, service and routine and enemies; with Scorpio rising they sit in Aries, a movable fire sign that is the 1st of the natural zodiac.
Aries as the 6th House of Scorpio Ascendant
Aries exalts the Sun, deepest at 10°, so for Scorpio ascendant the Sun is exalted in the 6th; it debilitates Saturn at 20°, so Saturn is debilitated in the 6th. The house holds Ashwini (all four padas), Bharani (all four padas) and Krittika (pada 1), whose lords are Ketu, Venus and the Sun; Mars rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 12th holds Libra, ruled by Venus.
