The 3rd Lord for Scorpio Ascendant: Saturn
3rd house = Capricorn · lord Saturn · also lord of the 4th
With Scorpio rising, the 3rd house is Capricorn, the 3rd sign counted from Scorpio, and Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. So for Scorpio ascendant the 3rd lord is Saturn, which also rules the 4th through Aquarius: one graha holds the 3rd and the 4th together for this ascendant. The 3rd is an upachaya, and the 4th a kendra.
The lagna lord, Mars, counts Saturn neutral, while Saturn counts Mars an enemy: for Scorpio ascendant the 1st and 3rd lords do not see each other the same way. The 3rd’s matters are younger siblings, courage and effort, communication style and short journeys; with Scorpio rising they sit in Capricorn, a movable earth sign that is the 10th of the natural zodiac.
Capricorn as the 3rd House of Scorpio Ascendant
