The 1st Lord for Scorpio Ascendant: Mars
1st house = Scorpio · lord Mars · also lord of the 6th
With Scorpio rising, the 1st house is Scorpio, the ascendant itself, and Scorpio is ruled by Mars. So for Scorpio ascendant the 1st lord is Mars, which also rules the 6th through Aries: one graha holds the 1st and the 6th together for this ascendant. The 1st is a kendra and a trikona, and the 6th a dusthana and an upachaya.
Mars is therefore the lagna lord of Scorpio ascendant itself. The 1st’s matters are personal identity and life direction; with Scorpio rising they sit in Scorpio, a fixed water sign that is the 8th of the natural zodiac.
Scorpio as the 1st House of Scorpio Ascendant
