The 1st Lord for Sagittarius Ascendant: Jupiter
1st house = Sagittarius · lord Jupiter · also lord of the 4th
With Sagittarius rising, the 1st house is Sagittarius, the ascendant itself, and Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. So for Sagittarius ascendant the 1st lord is Jupiter, which also rules the 4th through Pisces: one graha holds the 1st and the 4th together for this ascendant. The 1st is a kendra and a trikona, and the 4th a kendra.
Jupiter is therefore the lagna lord of Sagittarius ascendant itself. The 1st’s matters are personal identity and life direction; with Sagittarius rising they sit in Sagittarius, a dual fire sign that is the 9th of the natural zodiac.
